For every Aniimo you catch, an Innate Potential (indicated by a number) will be assigned to them for each stat. These provide stat bonuses which stack on top of the base stats for that Aniimo species. Note that the possible range of Innate Potential depends on the Aniimo's rarity, which in turn depends on the Innate Stat Total.

Innate Potential is contrasted with Acquired Potential, which can be increased via Resonance Star Up and Capability Awakening.
The combination of both Innate and Acquired Potential will allow Aniimos to reach a maximum of 20 Potential in each stat, known as the Potential Limit.

When your Aniimo has a total of 10 Innate Potential in two of its stats, its Perfect icon will gain sunglasses. It's possible to either achieve these values naturally or by using a Capafruit, though since only one Capafruit can be used, this is only possible if an Aniimo already has an Innate Potential of at least 9 in two stats.

When you reach the maximum of 20 total Potential for 3 stats, your aniimo's Perfect icon will have a silver crown.
The Perfect icon can have both the sunglasses and crown to indicate that the Animo has two stats with 10 Innate Potential and 3 stats with 20 Potential overall.

Players can use a Capafruit on their selected Aniimo, granting +1 Innate Potential score to each of its six attributes. Note that each Aniimo can consume only one Capafruit.

Aniimo can gain an increase in potential through Inheritance. Players can select which stat they want their chosen Aniimo to have from the Inheritor Aniimo.
However, this process is only available with Aniimo of the same family type.

During the Tracing the Trail event, Pathfinders can participate in the Aniimo investigation. One of the rewards for completing an investigation is an increase in the Innate Potential of your selected main Aniimo!

You can increase the specific Acquired Potential of your Aniimo at the Capability Awakening screen within the Training menu. Use Star Sand and Star Dust to increase by +1.

Aniimos will also receive a +1 Acquired Potential score to each of its six attributes when it ascends to T6 (6-Star).
How to Raise Resonance Star Rank

Pathfinders have the opportunity to obtain an Aniimo with high Innate Potential by hatching high-grade eggs from the Hatchinator.
For example, Sparkling Eggs are guaranteed to hatch into a Sparkling Aniimo, which will possess high stats upon hatching.

Using a Sparkling Cube while catching an Aniimo guarantees a 100% success rate, and also makes their Potential Perfect, and transforms them into a Sparkling Aniimo.
How to Get Sparkling Cubes and When to Use

Another way to get a high Innate Potential Aniimo is by hunting and targeting a Sparkling Aniimo while exploring. After your hunt, you can view all the Aniimo you've collected at the Research Console in the Outpost to check for high-rated ones.
Alternatively, you can use a Sparkling Sigil item to transform a Normal Aniimo into a Sparkling Aniimo.

Something to correct: As far as I have seen, the Inherit system does not transfer "Innate" Potential but "Acquired" Potential.
