Choose between Helion or Lunara as your starter guardian in Aniimo. Learn more about Helion and Lunara, their abilities, which is the best starter Aniimo, Helion vs Lunara comparison, and whether you can get both Helion and Lunara in this guide.
List of Contents
| Choice | Summary |
|---|---|
Lunara |
・Can sustain and cast debuffs on her own ・Excels at ranged combat |
Helion |
・Deals high burst damage ・Works best in close-combat |
Out of the two Aniimo, Lunara is the best starter as she can sustain her own HP, deal ranged damage, and can reduce Light Resistance of enemies. She has a more beginner friendly playstyle and has a versatile role in most team compositions.
You can only pick one starter Aniimo in your playthrough, but this does not affect your Aniilog completion.

Lunara is a more comfortable pick because she excels in ranged combat and is good for sustaining her own HP, which is amazing when starting out with the game. Lunara also functions as a debuffer by reducing the Light Resistance of enemies, boosting her own damage and providing support to Aniimo with Light skills.
Another thing to note is that she can also deal significant burst damage and is good at dealing Break damage (which stuns enemies), making her a suitable quick-swap DPS for almost any team. From a team-building perspective, she is a more versatile choice over Helion.
| Combat Skills | |
|---|---|
| Moon Impact | Drops a full moon onto the target, triggering an explosion and dealing damage. If it hits a target with Fox Mark, deals additional small-area damage around the target equal to 10%. |
| Lumin Bolts | Fires three Light projectiles to attack enemies, prioritizing different targets. Applies Fox Mark to hit targets: Reduces target's Light RES by 5%, stacks up to 3 times, lasts for 10 seconds. |
| Innate Skills | |
| Selene's Judgment | Unleashes Selene’s Judgment on nearby targets, dealing massive damage, evolves into Fennelun, and increases its damage by 15% until combat ends. Also gains 4 stacks of Silvermoon Mark. |

The best team for Lunara revolves around giving the best break damage, damage buffs, and EP recovery. Rookey is the main Break damage dealer, Turbo buffs the team with 30% damage and break efficiency, while Somniwing increases EP recovery of all its allies.
To play Lunara, take advantage of the Lunar Power trait. It grants 4 Silver Moon Marks whenever she uses a skill or ultimate, allowing her to deal double damage for the next four basic attacks and heal a small amount of HP.

Helion is a great choice if you prefer a main DPS to focus your early-game resources on directly. He excels in close-combat and striking targets with incredible burst potential. He can deal massive damage with his Light Bombardment skill, which is further improved by Holy Roar, Solar Halo, and Ring of the Golden Sun buffs.
| Combat Skills | |
|---|---|
| Sun-Kissed | Bathes in sunlight and restores 20 EP. Solar Halo enhances the skill, restoring an extra 5 EP. |
| Light Bombardment | Dive from the air to attack the target, causing a Holy Light explosion upon landing. If you have Ring of the Golden Sun, this damage is increased by 30%. If you have Solar Halo, this hit deals 30% more damage and restores 4% HP. There is also a 75% chance this skill will not consume Solar Halo. |
| Holy Storm | Spins and jumps up to cause a storm to attack all surrounding targets while pulling them closer to the center of the storm. |
| Holy Roar | Unleash a lion's roar imbued with sacred power to ATK enemies. Upon hit, increases own 6% Light Damage Amplification, stacking up to 3 times, lasting 20 seconds. Kim's Sol Ring will enhance the Skill effect, stacking 1 time for 3 layers. |
| Innate Skills | |
| Helios' Judgment | Unleashes Helios’ Judgment on nearby targets, dealing massive damage. Evolves into Soleon, increases its own damage by 15% until leaving combat, and gains Ring of the Golden Sun. |
| ATK (Phys., Melee, Light) | Wields the power of light to attack targets at close range. |

The best team for Helion revolves around boosting his burst damage coming from Turbo's and Prismana Glacy's skills while also providing strong shields and healing to keep him safe in combat. Somniwing acts as the team's EP generator to allow Helion to spam Light Bombardment.
To play as Helion, activate all buffs from your support Aniimo on the team. Switch to Helion and use basic attacks to activate the Solar Halo buff. You can use the dodge-cancel animation cancel exploit to trigger the Solar Halo buff quickly.
Use Holy Roar to gain 3 stacks of Light Damage Amplification and perform the basic attacks again to refresh the Solar Halo buff.

At the end of the day, you will not go wrong with either of the starter Aniimo, so choose whichever one you find the cutest or most appealing. Both have their advantages in terms of skills, but neither is lacking in terms of meta, so select whichever character design you prefer.
| Stats | Helion | Lunara |
|---|---|---|
| Element | Light | Light |
| Role | DPS | DPS |
| Overall Stat | 504 | 504 |
| Normal Attack | Melee | Ranged |
| Exploration | Hustle | Hustle |
| Combat | Close-range attacks, focuses on self-buffs and gathering enemies | Long-range attacks, utilize debuffs and has self-recovery |
| Playstyle | Attack targets at close range | Attack targets from a distance |
Both Helion and Lunara share the same element, role type, overall stats, and exploration skills. During the early stage, combat is not too difficult, so the choice of your starter Aniimo does not greatly affect your gameplay, since there are no significant differences in their performance.
Choosing between the two depends on your fighting style: Helion is recommended for attacking aggressively with close-range attacks, while Lunara is recommended if you prefer keeping distance from the enemy.

You can only choose either Helion or Lunara as your starter Aniimo. Decide carefully, as there is currently no way to acquire the other starter once finalized.
Early on in the main story, Dr. Lewis hints at getting an item called the Ancient Prism that will allow you to awaken and obtain the other starter Aniimo that you did not choose, but this remains unconfirmed.
