Chance to Spawn in Blitzwood Wild Surges

Squashel can appear during Wild Surges in Blitzwood. Nurture the Bloom to trigger a Wild Surge and have a chance of encountering Squashel. Make sure to nurture it using Fire Shards to spawn Squarrel instead of Flutternym or Bolty.

Squashel Best Team

Fire Break Aniimo With a More Technical Playstyle

Squashel is a good Break aniimo for Fire teams, filling a role similar to Inferlupa and Magmarex. It has a more technical playstyle that can be difficult to execute at first, but learning its combo can significantly improve its Break potential and make it a good option for players willing to adapt to its mechanics.

Take note, however, that Squashel does not have skills that apply Fire Debuff, so it is not recommended as a Break aniimo for Infergon, as it relies on Fire Debuff stacks to deal more damage.

Best Skills

Pinecone BombPinecone Bomb Blazing Fist BarrageBlazing Fist Barrage Blazing RushBlazing Rush
(Ultimate)

Pinecone Bomb and Blazing Fist Barrage are Squashel's must-have skills for maximizing its Break performance. Pinecone Bomb applies Pinecone Marks to enemies hit, while Blazing Fist Barrage consumes these marks to empower the next Basic Attack into Punch Rush. Use Blazing Rush when you have enough Ultimate meter to spare for massive Break damage.

Best Personality
E S T P

Energetic (E) is recommended for Squashel to increase its Break stat. Practical (S) is good since Squashel can deal decent damage despite being a Break aniimo.

Prioritize Break to improve Squashel's Break damage. Regen is also important since Blazing Fist Barrage has a high 30 EP cost, while Pinecone Bomb needs to be used twice in one rotation to reapply Pinecone Marks.

Effects
Core Effect: Equipped Aniimo gain 0.7 additional BREAK per level.
Tier 1 Effect: BREAK +2
Tier 2 Effect: BREAK +10%. If BREAK Acquired Potential exceeds 15 points, the effect is doubled.

Gargantuan Horn is the best Held Item for Squashel since it provides strong Break stats that complement its role as a Break aniimo. Make sure to have Squashel's Break Potential at 16 or higher to get more Break from its Tier 2 Effect.

Should You Form a Contract with Your Held Item?

Blazing Fist Barrage IconBlazing Fist Barrage
【BOOSTED】
Blazing Fist Barrage's second cast no longer requires a Pinecone Mark to use Punch Rush.

We recommend forming a contract with your held item since it lets Squashel use Punch Rush without spending extra EP to reapply a Pinecone Mark with Pinecone Bomb. This gives Squashel more opportunities to use Punch Rush and increase its overall Break performance.

How to Play Squashel

Recommended Skill Rotation

  1. Set up your EP recovery or Break Efficiency buffs before switching to Squashel. Somniwing's Ethereal Light Wave can improve EP recovery, while Turbo's Nimbi Burst increases Break Efficiency.
  2. Bring in Squashel and execute its combo, using the enhanced basic attack from its Raging Fire trait and consuming Pinecone Marks to use Punch Rush and quickly Break the enemy.
  3. Once the enemy is Broken, switch to your support aniimo and activate your damage buffs. Sparkelf is a great aniimo to use for supporting Fire aniimo in general.
  4. Swap to your Main DPS and use its skills to deal tons of damage while the enemy is broken.

Optimized Squashel Break Combo

Pinecone Bomb → Basic Attack → Blazing Fist Barrage → Punch Rush

Combine Squashel's Raging Fire Trait, Pinecone Marks, and its other skills to maximize its Break damage. Start with Pinecone Bomb, then use the empowered Basic Attack before activating Blazing Fist Barrage to consume the Pinecone Mark. Follow up with Punch Rush and repeat the sequence once more.

Be mindful of the enemy's attacks and prepare to dodge if needed, as Squashel can be interrupted during the combo, reducing its overall Break damage.

Follow Up Every Skill With a Basic Attack

Squashel's Raging Fire Trait changes its next basic attack into the final hit of its basic attack chain after using a skill. The empowered attack also deals increased Might, so follow up each skill with a basic attack to get the most Break value from the Trait.

Consume Pinecone Marks With Blazing Fist Barrage

Pinecone Bomb applies a Pinecone Mark to enemies hit. Squashel can consume these marks with Blazing Fist Barrage to change its next Basic Attack into Punch Rush, which unleashes multiple punches that inflict decent Break damage.

Use for Fire and Artisanship in the Homeland

If Squashel is outside of your active party, you can assign it to help in the Homeland by cooking, smelting, supplying heat, and crafting various goods.
