Highland Scorchhowl's best team consists of Sparkelf, Bailite, and Somniwing. Sparkelf provides Highland Scorchhowl with strong Fire buffs that improves its overall damage output. Bailite's Potent Erosion trait can reduce a target's Earth Resistance by up to 30%, while Cozite Nest Sentry and Cannon Mode adds more damage to the team. Somniwing provides sufficient EP recovery for the team.

Alternative Aniimo Options

Shrubclaw IconShrubclaw
If you want a Break aniimo in your team, replace Bailite with Shrubclaw. It can also apply Earth debuffs that reduces the target's resistance against Earth.

If you want to go full Fire team, replace Bailite with Inferlupa.

Best Skills

(Ultimate)

Highland Scorchhowl’s strongest skill is Burn Breaker, which unleashes massive damage on enemies directly in front of it, especially when used with full EP. Its second skill, Pebble Kick, is the Earth‑type variation of Fire Kick. When Pebble Kick successfully dodges an attack, its damage increases and the target is prevented from switching aniimo, making it a versatile offensive and counterplay tool.

M.Def ★
Best Personality
E S F P

Prioritize getting E and S for Highland Scorchhowl to maximize its damage output. F and P are low priority but would an ideal addition for better defense.

Highland Scorchhowl's best stats are Attack and Regen. Attack helps increase Highland Scorchhowl's damage, while Regen helps it recover EP faster, allowing it to deal more damage with Burn Breaker.

Best Held Item

Explosive Gloves Icon Explosive Gloves Main Stat Damage Amp
Rarity Legendary
Effects
Core Effect: Increases Damage Amp by 5% for every 10 EP currently available.
Tier 1 Effect: Increases the DMG boost per 10 EP to 7.5%.

Explosive Gloves synergizes well with Burn Breaker, as it increases Highland Scorchhowl's damage based on how much EP it has left. Because it calculates the damage buff when you first use the skill, Highland Scorchhowl gets the maximum possible damage buff, making Burn Breaker deal massive damage.

Should You Form a Contract with Your Held Item?

Burn Breaker IconBurn Breaker
【BOOSTED】
Scorchhowl now moves up to 6 meters towards the target when releasing a fully charged Burn Breaker.

We don't recommend forming a contract since the boosted effect does not increase the skill's damage output, only adding a dash to the skill when used. Since you will mostly be using this skill on a stationary target, and since the skill's area of effect is pretty large, there is no need to form a contract.

How to Play Highland Scorchhowl

Recommended Skill Rotation

  1. Use Sparkelf's Inspiration and Keep the Fire Bolt Going! to amplify Higland Scorchhowl's Fire skills and Bailite's Devastation Cannon to inflict Earth resistance debuffs for Pebble Kick.
  2. Swap to Highland Scorchhowl and use a fully-charged Burn Breaker.
  3. If the enemy attacks, use Pebble Kick to dodge before doing a counter-attack.
  4. Switch to your Regen Aniimo to recover EP, then repeat the rotation.

Use Against Ice Enemies

As a dual Fire/Earth type, Highland Scorchhowl’s skills gain strong effectiveness against Ice enemies and also take significantly less damage from them. This dual typing allows it to switch between Fire and Earth attacks while consistently maintaining an elemental advantage, giving it flexibility in both offense and defense.

Have One Earth and One Fire Support on the Team

When using Highland Scorchhowl’s exclusive Earth skill, Pebble Kick, it’s essential to have one Earth support like Bailite and one Fire support like Sparkelf on the team. The Earth support applies debuffs that amplify Pebble Kick’s damage, while the Fire support enhances Highland Scorchhowl’s Fire skills. This dual support setup ensures Highland Scorchhowl consistently deals maximum damage across both elements.

Best Support Aniimo

Use Pebble Kick in Pathfinder Challenges or PvP

Pebble Kick functions similarly to Fire Kick, but instead of granting a 20% damage boost on a successful dodge, it inflicts Blockade, preventing aniimo from switching. This effect is especially effective in Pathfinder Challenges and PvP, as it denies opponents the ability to counter your active aniimo.

How to Unlock Pebble Kick

Fully Charge Burn Breaker With Max EP

Burn Breaker's damage scales off of two things: charge duration and available EP. Pressing the skill will deal the least damage, while charging it until it casts on its own will deal the maximum amount of damage. Using Burn Breaker when you have 30 EP will deal the minimum amount of damage to enemies, with the damage increasing by 30% for every extra 10 EP. However, do take note that Burn Breaker will use up all of your EP when charged to full.
