Can be Found South of First Sight Sanctum in Russet Highlands

You'll find a lone Rookey communicating with three Helmuts south of the First Sight Sanctum in the Russet Highlands. You can sneak up on it from the cliff above and capture it with a backstab for an easy first-try catch.

Alpha Rookey Can Be Caught in Russet Highlands
Alternatively, you can opt to catch the Alpha Rookey found in the same region. If you have some Aniipod Ultras to spare, you can guarantee the catch by using them after defeating the boss for the first time.
Chance to Spawn in Russet Highlands Wild Surges
Rookey can appear during Wild Surges in Russet Highlands. Nurture the Bloom to trigger a Wild Surge and have a chance of encountering Rookey. Make sure to nurture it using Dark Shards to spawn Helmut instead of Jawling.
Rookey Best Team
Great as General Break Aniimo
Although Rookey is a Dark-type aniimo, it can be used as a general Break aniimo thanks to its high Break Stat, as well as its powerful Skills. Running it in a Dark team is still ideal to take advantage of elemental weaknesses, however, it can perform well even in non-Dark teams.

Bouncy Sling is Rookey's best skill, as it not only deals a lot of Break damage, but also increases the amount of Break damage that hit opponents take. This attack can also ricochet, allowing you to hit multiple enemies with one cast. For the second skill, Guardbreak Slam is a good option, as it can be cast up to three times, with the last cast stunning enemies.

As a Break aniimo, Rookey will want E and S to improve its damage output and Break capabilities. As for the defensive personality, T is a must since Rookey's Trait scales off of Physical Defense. For the last personality trait, any will work, although P will help Rookey take less damage. |

Prioritize improving Rookey's Break stat to improve its ability to reduce Break bars. Additionally, improve its Physical Defense, as Rookey gains more Break the higher its Physical Defense stat is. Afterward, get Regen to help it charge the team's EP, as well as HP for increased survivability.

Gargantuan Horn is the best held item for Rookey thanks to its ability to increase its Break stat by a sizable amount, especially with its Tier 2 effect.
How to Play Rookey
Recommended Skill Rotation
- Use Bouncy Sling to close the distance and deal damage to the enemy. If it is available, use Heavy Slam to deal massive Break damage.
- Cast the first use of Guardbreak Slam. Perform a full basic attack combo before recasting it. Do this one more time and use Guardbreak Slam's final, stronger recast.
- Repeat this until the enemy is broken. Once they are, swap to your supports and apply all available buffs and debuffs.
- Swap to your DPS Aniimo and execute its skill rotation.
- Once the enemy's Break bar is full again, swap back to Rookey and repeat the rotation.
Use Bouncy Sling to Easily Break Enemies
Bouncy Sling is Rookey's core skill, allowing it to charge at enemies and deal a large amount of break damage. This skill can be used from a distance, allowing you to quickly approach the enemy and follow up with Rookey's other attacks.
Bouncy Sling Can Ricochet Between Enemies
If there are other enemies in the vicinity when Bouncy Sling is used, Rookey will automatically ricochet to them. This is especially useful if the enemy is clumped together, allowing you to deal break damage over a large number of enemies at once.
Guardbreak Slam Can Be Recast for More Damage
Guardbreak Slam can be recast twice after the original cast, with the third cast dealing more damage and stunning the enemies that it hits. This is a good skill to use if you have the EP to spare. Take note, however, that the stun does not work on Alpha enemies.
Cast Heavy Slam to Deal Massive Break Damage
Rookey's ultimate, Heavy Slam, deals massive break damage to enemies. You can use this at the start of your rotation to remove a huge chunk of the enemy's Break bar. Afterward, you can use skills to charge up the ultimate gauge and prepare for the damage window when the enemy breaks.
Use to Harvest and Carry Materials in Homeland
If Rookey is not in your active party, you can assign it to harvest and carry materials in your Homeland.

Defeat a Wild Aniimo With the Ballistic Guard Skill
To accomplish the “Defeat the Opponent by dealing damage with Counter in defense mode” objective, you only need to land the finishing blow with Helmut’s Ballistic Guard skill. The easiest way to accomplish it is to fight an aggressive wild Aniimo, such as Thornblade, using an Aniimo with a type advantage. First, bring its HP down to a critical level, then switch to Helmut and let Ballistic Guard’s shockwave effect deliver the final hit.

Unwavering Rampart becomes available after reaching Trailblazer I, which you can achieve by completing the Level 55 Promotion Quest. You must spend a total of 56 Report Cards in Passive Talents to unlock Unwavering Rampart, then spend another 3 Report Cards to learn it.
