Unlike most Aniimos, Alpha Aniimos can only be caught when they are defeated in a battle. You do not need to worry about accidentally killing it or wasting any Aniipod during the fight.

You have a limited time to catch an Alpha Aniimo and the game will provide you a free Aniipod that you can use after defeating it. However, every type of Aniipod will have an extremely low chance of capturing an Alpha Aniimo.
If you want to guarantee a catch, make sure to use either an Aniipod Ultra or a Sparkling Cube.

Alpha Aniimos are minibosses version of an existing Aniimo you encounter in the overworld. Their models are much large compared to the regular Aniimo.

Each Alpha Aniimo drops a specific Aniimo Material or Held Item tied to it after defeating one in battle. The rewards you get vary based on what title you currently have.
Even if you fail to catch an Alpha Aniimo, you will still get the rewards. If your goal is to farm materials, make sure to use the free Aniipod given to you to catch it and spend 30 Primegy to obtain the rewards.
Quitting an Alpha Aniimo catch will not give you any rewards, but the Primegy will not be reduced.
