Wailord ex (Ruler of the Skies) Expert Solo Battle Guide

Pokemon TGC Pocket - Wailord ex (Ruler of the Skies) Deck Build and How to Play

This Expert Solo Battle guide is for the Wailord ex Deck from the Ruler of the Skies expansion. Read on to learn about how to defeat it, counter decks, how to beat the battle tasks, and rewards.

How to Beat Wailord ex Expert Solo Battle

Opponent's Card List

Vaporeon ×1 Eevee ×1 Feebas ×2 Milotic ex ×2
Wailmer ×2 Wailord ex ×2 Cyrus ×1 Heavy Helmet ×2
Copycat ×1 Skyla ×1 Soothing Shore ×1 Poke Ball ×2

Use a Strong Lightning-Type Deck

Use strong Lightning-type Pokemon such as Magnezone ex to be able to deal a lot of damage to the bulky Wailord ex. With its Storm Blade attack, Magnezone ex can knock out Wailord ex in about 2 to 3 turns even if it has Trainer cards that are supporting it.

It would also be best to use Pom-Pom Style Oricorio in your deck, since the main damage dealers on the opponent's side of the field are mainly ex Pokmon.

Best Lightning Type Deck and Cards Tier List

Remove the Opposing Stadium

With the Soothing Shore card in play, Pokemon with a Water Energy attached will heal every turn. This makes the bulky Wailord ex even bulkier.

Remove this Stadium card by using the Field Blower item or by replacing it with your own Stadium card. Take note that the Field Blower may also remove Pokemon Tools, which can benefit you if the opponent has attached the Heavy Helmet to their Wailord ex.

Once set up with the help of Moltres ex or Charmeleon, Mega Charizard Y ex can one-shot Wailord ex with its strong Crimson Dive attack. Even if Wailord ex has the Heavy Helmet equipped, you can use Red to negate the damage reduction of that tool and still knock out Wailord ex in one hit.

The Rainbow Cave Stadium isn't exactly used for its effect in this deck. Its main purpose is to remove the Soothing Shore on the opponent's side to prevent the opponent from healing any chip damage you've already done. Rainbow Cave can be substituted for a different Stadium card as long as it doesn't benefit the opponent.

This Crimson Blaze Magnezone and Pom-Pom Oricorio deck has non-ex Magnezone to get around the opponent's boosted damage on ex Pokemon. Magneton can be used to set it up using its Volt Charge ability. Try to keep it safe on your Bench as much as possible until you can evolve it.

To wall Mega Sharpedo ex, you may use Pom-Pom Oricorio, since it is immune to all attacks from Pokemon ex. Take note that it can still be damaged by the opponent's other Pokemon.
