It's best to start with Dialga ex in the Active Spot. Invest Energy in this Pokemon until it can use its Metallic Turbo attack to help set up the Pokemon on your Bench.

Try to build up Mega Metagross on your Bench, and only bring it out once it has enough Energy to one-shot your opponent's Pokemon. This will make it much harder for your opponent to stop.

Attach a Steel Apron to it, so that it's immune to any status conditions that can disrupt your game plan. You may also attach a Metal Core Barrier if you're expecting to take a particularly strong blow.

Skarmory acts as the early game attacker as Bastiodon sets up on the bench. Bastiodon is a difficult Pokemon to go up against once set up, as its Guarded Grill Ability makes it very difficult to KO.

PTCGP Metal Pokemon Deck Strategy

Strategy Focuses on Defense

Metal decks revolve around defensive play and keeping your Pokemon healthy for as long as possible. They typically make use of defensive tools like Steel Apron and Lucky Ice Pop to avoid getting KOd or getting Status inflicted on them. Metal Pokemon also typically have high Retreat Costs and are able to use Heavy Helmet.
