Shuckle ex is the deck's best starter, as it can tank damage while dealing valuable chip damage to your opponent's attackers. Teal Mask Ogerpon ex can protect your Pokemon from status effects, and can occasionally be a backup attacker.
Your late-game attacker is Vespiquen ex, a Pokemon who can deal up to 140 damage if it can discard your Benched Basics. For matchups against Pom-Pom Oricorio, Vespiquen from Space-Time Smackdown is a solid single-point choice.

It's best to start with either Combee or Pheromosa in the Active Spot. Combee can help you gather a good number of Pokemon onto your hand, while Pheromosa can start chipping away at your opponent's Pokemon and damage any Pokemon they're trying to set up on their Bench.
Try to play the Fragrant Forest card as soon as possible as well. Once Vespiquen ex has been set up, you can start dealing consistent 140 damage to your opponent using the Pokemon cards you have on hand.
Some of the best Pokemon to discard are your initial Pheromosa or Combee, especially if they've been damaged, and Poltchageist. For Poltchageist, try to keep this Pokemon in your hand until you need a bit of healing. Then once you play it, it's best to discard it immediately through Vespiquen ex's attack.

To effectively use Vespiquen ex, you'll need to have a consistent supply of Pokemon that you are willing to discard. To make sure you obtain Pokemon every turn, it's best to have the Fragrant Forest Stadium in play. You may also summon Pokemon in the early turns by using Combee.

Once the Pokemon in the early turns have taken damage and are at risk of getting knocked out, it's best to move them to your Bench immediately, then bring out Vespiquen. These damaged Pokemon can then be discarded when Vespiquen ex attacks.
This ensures that your opponent can't get a point by sniping your damaged Pokemon, and you'll be able to bring in healthier Pokemon from your hand onto your Bench.

It's a good idea to put Pokemon on the Bench that can help support Vespiquen ex with their Abilities, such as Teal Mask Ogerpon ex and Poltchageist.
Teal Mask Ogerpon ex can prevent status conditions that can slow down or chip away at Vespiquen ex. Poltchageist in particular pairs well with Vespiquen ex, since it can heal the Active Vespiquen ex when it's first added onto the Bench, but it can't really do much afterwards. This makes it the perfect Pokemon to discard.

It's best to use a strong Fire-type deck to deal with Vespiquen ex, such as the Mega Blaziken ex Deck. Mega Blaziken ex can one-shot Vespiquen ex for only 2 Energy.
Mega Blaziken ex can also burn the opponent. Burn deals 20 damage every turn when active, which can help knock out a Vespiquen ex with a Leaf Cape equipped.
Best Fire Type Decks & Cards Tier List

To disrupt the Vespiquen ex Deck's consistent supply of Pokemon cards, it's best to remove the Fragrant Forest Stadium card as soon as possible. You can do this by placing your own Stadium card onto the field or by using the Field Blower item.
