Darkness-types counter most of the Pokemon in this deck. It is best to use cards with low Attack Costs or the ability to generate their own Energy in order to deal damage quickly.

The opponent relies on drawing as many cards as possible in order to increase the damage from Team Rocket's Slowking ex.
It is best to reduce the number of cards in your opponent's hand in order to prevent them from dealing a lot of damage.

Peculiar Plaza allows your opponents to retreat to the Bench without much cost. This can prevent you from scoring KOs against low-HP opponents.
You may discard the Peculiar Plaza by replacing it with a Stadium Card of your own. It is best to avoid Stadiums that let players draw more cards, as they can increase the damage that Team Rocket's Slowking ex can deal.
Alternatively, you may use Field Blower to remove the Peculiar Plaza if you do not have a Stadium Card that suits your deck. If the Stadium isn't in play, you may use it to remove the opponent's Elegant Cape or Lucky Egg instead.

Hitmontop and Riolu can both be used as early game attackers. Hitmontop can attack the opponent's Bench during the early game, giving the player an advantage. Meanwhile, Riolu can be a good counter to Basic ex Pokemon that are often set down right away due to its special attack effect.
Rampardos is built in the Bench. When ready, or when the opponent's Active Pokemon is within KO range, use Rampardos to deal devastating damage.
When evolved, Riolu also becomes Lucario who boosts the damage of all Fighting Pokemon, making a devastating combo.

This deck's win condition is inflicting Status Conditions to fuel Team Rocket's Magmar's Derisive Roasting. Each Status Condition on the opponent's Active Pokemon adds 50 damage, enough to blow up even bulky ex Pokemon. Team Rocket's Weezing's Boiler Smog, Team Rocket's Master Plan, and Poison Barb are your main tools for applying those conditions.
Ideally you'll start with Happiny on the Active Spot, since Chubby Cheer adds +20 damage to your attacks next turn. Team Rocket's Koffing is also an okay start, as Reverse Thrust lets it retreat for free so a different Pokemon can stay on Active. TR Magmar is the least ideal start, but can still be worked around. You'll want to save it purely for the finishing blow. Whichever Pokemon is Active going into your opponent's turn, equip it with Poison Barb.

With the help of Copycat and Quick-Grow Extract, it is possible to have Mega Venusaur ex up by your third turn in the game.
Use Copycat to refresh your hand if you do not have the needed cards in-hand. May can help filter your hand's Pokemon and find what you need. You may also use Quick-Grow Extract to evolve into your Mega Venusaur ex earlier.
Make sure to use your Supporter cards strategically. Be careful not to reshuffle cards that are needed for your setup. Make use of your resources before using cards that will reshuffle your hand into your deck.
