It's ideal to start with Pichu in your Active Spot and have Dedenne ex on your Bench. Use Pichu to give Dedenne a Lightning Energy immediately, then swap it out the next turn to have Dedenne ex play out the rest of the battle in the Active Spot.
Make sure to equip Pokemon Tools on all of your Pokemon as soon as possible to maximize Dedenne ex's damage output. It's ideal to put a Giant Cape on Pichu to help prevent it from being one-shot by an attack. If it looks like it's going down no matter what, you can attach an Electrical Cord onto it instead.
For Dedenne ex, it's recommended to attach the Rocky Helmet if the opponent won't go down to a hit or a Giant Cape if Dedenne ex is at risk of being knocked out. The Starting Plains Stadium card can also help keep all of your Pokemon alive by increasing their HP.
Pom-Pom Oricorio is best used when playing against strong ex Pokemon. This Dedenne ex deck doesn't really have any bulky Pokemon, so try to make use of Oricorio's immunity to Pokemon ex to help keep your team alive.

![]() Elesa (B3b 066) |
![]() ![]() • Elesa allows you to obtain Pokemon Tools from Pokemon that are about to faint, which is especially useful if you don't have extra Pokemon Tools on hand. |
![]() Kid's Room (B3b 069) |
![]() ![]() • Kid's Room allows you to obtain Pokemon Tools more reliably, so it may be a better option if you're aiming for a fast, hyper-offensive build. • Starting Plains is the better Stadium to have if you struggle with keeping your Pokemon alive. |

Dedenne ex decks rely on Pokemon Tools to deal as much damage as possible. Make sure you have at least four Tools in your deck to be able to equip a Tool onto all Pokemon on your Bench and in your Active Spot.
If you don't want to add more than four Tools to your deck, you can include Elesa in your deck to recall any Pokemon Tools that you're about to lose, so that you may reuse them on other Pokemon.

Having Pichu in the Active Spot for your first turn can allow you to set up Dedenne ex by your second turn. If you manage to get a full Bench of Pokemon that are all equipped with Pokemon Tools by your second turn, you can instantly knock out most Pokemon.
Energy Acceleration and Transfer Cards List

The best way to deal with Dedenne ex decks is to remove the Pokemon Tools attached on your opponent's side of the field. The best way to do this is to use Guzma, so that all Pokemon Tools are removed at once.
You may also use the Field Blower item, but this is less consistent, since it may discard a Stadium card instead or even one of your own Pokemon Tools.

Mega Lucario ex is best used against Dedenne ex decks, since Mega Lucario ex is easy to set up, deals a lot of damage, and can survive a full-powered attack from Dedenne ex.
A deck containing Hitmonlee is recommended, since Dedenne ex decks likely have weak Pokemon such as Pichu on the Bench. Hitmonlee allows you to easily snipe them off.
