Team Rocket's Ambition: The Great Puzzle Challenge is an event from August 27 to September 30 that rewards 24 Pack Hourglasses in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket (PTCG Pocket) for solving puzzles. Read on for a guide to The Great Puzzle Challenge, the puzzle answers, rewards, and how to play in this event.
List of Contents

The Great Puzzle Challenge is not an event in the Pokemon TCG Pocket app. Instead, you can access this event through TCG Pocket's official Great Puzzle Challenge website.
Even though this event is external to the app, the reward you get for solving all the puzzles correctly can be redeemed and added to your Pokemon TCG Pocket account.

If you're stuck on a puzzle, you can leave the website and come back. On the home screen, buttons will appear after you clear a level, which you can use to jump to the first puzzle of the selected level. This is especially useful if you're stuck on the Ultra Ball level puzzle and don't want to go through the Great Ball puzzles again.

Although the Great Puzzle Challenge can be done on both PC and mobile, we found that some puzzles were easier to solve when playing on a mobile browser. The smaller but taller screen can help you see more of the page at a time, and the amount of scrolling needed to get from the top of the page to the bottom feels less tedious.
If you're struggling with some of the puzzles and you're playing on a desktop computer or laptop, you may want to try solving the puzzles on your mobile phone instead.

The Great Puzzle Challenge is available starting from August 27, 2026, after the release of the Team Rocket's Ambition expansion pack, and can be played until September 30, 2026 at 10:59 PM PDT.

If you've successfully completed the Great Puzzle Challenge and obtained a code as a reward, you can redeem that reward code until November 30, 2026 at 6:59 AM PST.

Although the website says that the reward is two Pack Hourglasses, solving all 6 puzzles in the Great Puzzle Challenge actually rewards you with a code for 24 Pack Hourglasses.

| # | Puzzle | Answer |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Which card on the right is not on the left? | Team Rocket's Drowzee |
| 2 | Figure out the pattern in the illustrations and figure out which card goes in the "?" | Cubone |
The Poke Ball puzzles are fairly simple, and since they're multiple choice, the correct answers are easier to get.
| # | Puzzle | Answer |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Each fraction points to a letter in that Pokemon's name. When you combine the letters, which four-letter Pokemon's name is revealed? | Sawk ▶︎ Solution |
| 2 | Cover up all the Sandshrew by catching them with four Poke Balls. | Aron ▶︎ Solution |
| 3 | In the grid of cards below, start from Team Rocket's Tinkaton and knock out Pokemon to move left, right, up, and down. | Mew ▶︎ Solution |
Great Ball puzzles are no longer multiple choice. You will have to enter the answers yourself, and these puzzles require some more thought and action compared to the Poke Ball puzzles. Here are more detailed explanations for how to solve each Great Ball puzzle:

Look at the rarity of each card in the lineup one-by-one. Count the number of diamonds in that card's rarity, then look at the card's name. The number of diamonds correspond to the letter's order in the card's name.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then drag the image of four Poke Balls at the bottom. Align them with the Sandshrew card, covering each Sandshrew on the card with a Poke Ball icon.
The Poke Balls also have circles on the left and right sides. When aligned properly with the Sandshrew card, four letters will be highlighted in the circles to spell ARON.

Like a normal TCG Pocket battle, look at the amount of damage your active Pokemon can deal and the HP of all Pokemon surrounding it (only to the sides, top, and bottom; diagonal cards don't count). The Pokemon that your current Pokemon can knock out will be the next Pokemon you will move to.
However, you must remember to tap or click the current Pokemon you're using and not the target Pokemon once you've determined the next target. Start from Team Rocket's Tinkaton at the top left corner, and make your way around the cards. The correct order to go is down, right, down, right, right, up, up, left. The message "FIRST LETTER OF EACH FACE-UP CARD FROM RIGHT TO LEFT" will be revealed if you followed the correct path.
| # | Puzzle | Answer |

| 1 | The answers so far were Team Rocket's Drowzee, Cubone, Sawk, Aron, and Mew. From the sixteen Pokemon cards below, find all the ones whose types differ from these five Pokemon. Read their backs from top to bottom. |
You pass |
There are actually 3 smaller puzzles in this one Ultra Ball level puzzle: the card puzzle, the coin puzzle, and the "Rocket" puzzle.

The card puzzle is the easiest to solve. Simply click or tap on cards that are not Psychic, Fighting, nor Metal. This means you must select Vespiquen, Magnezone, Flygon ex, Pyukumuku, Treecko, Iron Bundle, and Typhlosion ex. Selecting the correct cards will reveal the message, "LOOK BEHIND THE COIN."

"The coin" refers to the Team Rocket's Boss Coin depicting Giovanni with an R on his blazer. This is found to the right of the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket logo at the top of the page.
To see behind the coin, you must flip it by dragging it upwards. Simply tapping or clicking on it will not work. Once flipped, you'll see this message on the coin, "Create a 'Rocket' somewhere on this page. The seven-letter phrase that appears is the final answer."

To create a "Rocket" on the page, you'll need to use an asset you used in an earlier puzzle—the four Poke Balls at the bottom of the page. If you'll notice, there's a blue diagonal line at the top of this asset that moves with the Poke Balls and circles.
Drag this all the way up to the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket logo, and align the blue diagonal line at the top with the P in Pocket to turn the P into an R and form "Rocket." Look at the letters magnified by the circles to see the final seven-letter answer of "you pass."
