Mega Rayquaza ex is played in this deck as a late-game finisher. Its primary attacker is Gouging Fire, which has synergy with Dragonair, Ancient Booster Energy Capsule, Professor Sada, and Rainbow Cave.
Ancient Booster Energy Capsule increases Gouging Fire's HP by 40, making it harder to KO. Dragonair can continuously provide it with Energy so that it can keep attacking every turn. Professor Sada gives Gouging Fire another way to recur Energy. While Rainbow Cave discards Energy from the Energy Zone, for Professor Sada and Dragonair to return.

Mega Rayquaza ex is the main damage dealer in this deck who can pick off larger opponents, while Altaria is the secondary attacker.
Mega Rayquaza ex can deal 50 damage per Energy it discards from its card when it attacks. Since Mega Rayquaza ex requires one Fire Energy and one Lightning Energy to use its attack, you will always be inflicting at least 100 or more damage at your opponent.
The best strategy for this deck is to let the Energy build up on Mega Rayquaza ex until you can OHKO's the opponent's tankier Pokemon. In the meantime, you can use Altaria as an attacker while you build Mega Rayquaza ex.
Since you will be discarding a lot of Energy in this deck, use Dragonair's Ability alongside the Rainbow Cave to replenish lost Energy to your Pokemon.

Mega Rayquaza ex discards all its Energy every time it uses its attack. It is essentially for this deck to have cards that can help replenish the Energy for Mega Rayquaza ex such as Dragonair and the Rainbow Cave Stadium.
Energy Acceleration and Transfer Cards List

Mega Rayquaza ex's damage multiplies by 50 for every Energy it discards. Since you will be needing at least one Fire Energy and one Lightning Energy to attack, this means you will be dealing at least 100 or more damage at your opponent.
Keep attaching Energy to Mega Rayquaza ex while it is in your Bench until you are able to OHKO the tanky and hard-hitter Pokemons.

Compared to other Mega Pokemon Pokemon, Mega Rayquaza ex's HP isn't as highly difficult to deal with. It can easily be OHKO'd or 2HKO'd with the right boosts and Pokemon. Use Pokemon that have high attack power such as other Mega Pokemon to defeat Mega Rayquaza ex.

Consider using cards such as Sabrina and Cyrus that can force Mega Rayquaza ex into the Active Spot so it can be attacked directly.
