• Although Magnezone ex has high HP, other Pokemon in the deck do not.

For this deck, it is recommended to gather Lightning Energy using Magneton's Volt Charge Ability as soon as you can. You can use Lisia and Clemont to help you find the Pokemon you need to get this done.

Then, you'll have the choice to evolve Magneton into either Magnezone ex or the non-ex Magnezone from the Crimson Blaze set. Magnezone ex is recommended if you need the large burst of firepower. Non-ex Magnezone is recommended if you don't need as much attack power, or if Magnezone ex is under threat of being knocked out and you want to try to prevent your opponent from attacking.

The Pom-Pom Oricorio in this deck is recommended to be placed in the Active Spot at the start of the match while you set up your Magnezone. It can also be used against strong ex Pokemon especially if your opponent has no good non-ex Pokemon in their hand.

Heliolisk is played in this deck with Magnezone ex as an option to deal bigger damage in the late-game. Magnemite by itself can KO Baby Pokemon, and can set itself up when it evolves into Magneton from Genetic Apex and its Volt Charge Ability. Heliolisk works with Clemont's Backpack, which boosts the damage from its Attack as well as the damage dealt to the Bench.

Magnezone ex Deck Strategy Guide

Use Magneton to Accelerate Energy

Magneton from the Genetic Apex set can help you set up Magnezone ex thanks to its Ability Volt Charge. Use this to gain some Lightning Energy before evolving into Magnezone ex.

You can add Clemont to your deck to more easily find Magneton.

Can Be Used with Non-ex Pokemon

Magnezone ex decks work well with good, non-ex Lightning type Pokemon such as Pom-Pom Style Oricorio and the non-ex Magnezone cards.

This helps you deal with opposing Pom-Pom Oricorio, ex Pokemon, and can require your opponent to knock out more of your Pokemon in order to win.

How to Beat Magnezone ex Decks

Use Strong Fighting-Type Pokemon

Magnezone ex decks are weak to Fighting-type Pokemon, so these are best used against this deck. Fighting types that can set up quickly such as Rampardos or Mega Lucario ex are especially good to use, so that you can knock out Magnezone ex before it can finish setting up.

Best Fighting Type Deck and Cards Tier List

Have Non-ex Pokemon

Since Magnezone ex decks are likely to have Pom-Pom Oricorio as well, it's highly recommended to have non-ex Pokemon in your deck that can deal with it. Fighting-types in general will have an easy time against the Fighting-weak Pokemon in Magnezone ex decks.

Complete Card Dex

Discard Magnezone ex's Energy

You may discard Magnezone ex's Energy to prevent it from attacking. Since Magnezone ex's attack discards a Lightning Energy naturally, it may have a hard time gathering necessary Energy to consistently use an attack.
