• If you go second, Turbo Shark can be used on your first turn with Wallace.
• Mega Sharpedo ex can easily switch with Chien-Pao ex to finish off opponents within its KO range.

• Lacks firepower if you cannot draw Chien-Pao ex early.
• No counter to Pom-Pom Oricorio once Minior is taken out.

Mega Sharpedo ex becomes a low-cost battery for Chien-Pao ex through Turbo Shark, being able to attack immediately with the help of Wallace.. With no retreat cost, Mega Sharpedo ex can also easily switch with Chien-Pao ex once it accumulates enough Energy for Diving Icicles to finish off damaged opponents.

Gyarados from Wisdom of Sea and Sky works as a backup attacker that can be easily set up by Wallace as well.

Alternate Card Suggestions

Alternate Cards Possible Cuts

Palkia ex
(A2 049)
→

• Palkia ex has better OHKO potential.
• Palkia ex can also damage all your opponent's Benched Pokemon.
• Use either card based on your preference.

Soothing Shore
(B4 154)
→

• Add an extra copy of Soothing Shore in case the first one gets overwritten by your opponent's Stadium.

Mega Sharpedo ex Deck Strategy Guide

Turbo Shark Can Be Used After You First Gain an Energy

Using Wallace on Carvanha lets it evolve immediately to Mega Sharpedo ex (as long as you still have a copy on your deck), even during your first turn.

This means that you can use Turbo Shark right off the bat if you go second and have both Carvanha and Wallace in your starting hand.

Effective Battery for Benched Water-Types

Mega Sharpedo ex can deal 70 damage for only 1 Energy while also accelerating Water Pokemon in your Bench, making it easier to prepare high-cost Water attackers like Chien-Pao ex and Palkia ex.

This ability is complemented by its zero-cost retreat, allowing it to immediately swap with your deck's main attacker once it is loaded with the Energy it requires.

Gain Increased Survivability With Soothing Shore

Having a Soothing Shore Stadium set allows Mega Sharpedo ex to also heal damaged Water Pokemon in your Bench, such as a Chien-Pao ex that just discarded all of its Energy after attacking.

The effect of Soothing Shore can slowly replenish their HP to full and even prevent them from being targeted by Cyrus.

How to Beat Mega Sharpedo ex Decks

Use Miraidon ex or Other Fast Lightning Pokemon

Miraidon ex can "ambush" and OHKO Mega Sharpedo ex once its ally Pokemon gather enough Energy. Decks that use Miraidon ex typically include other Lightning-type Pokemon that can hit Mega Sharpedo ex's weakness and bring its HP down within Miraidon ex's KO range.

Zeraora is also a good matchup against Mega Sharpedo ex as it can endure a hit from Turbo Shark. If the opponent's Carvanha cannot evolve during their turn, Zeraora can also take it out before it does.
