Whimsicott ex is the deck's main attacker with Ariados' Trap Territory supporting it by giving Grass Knot a damage boost.
Ariados' Ability stacks, making it so two copies of it can increase the Defending Pokemon's Retreat by as much as 2.
This strategy is made even more consistent by Team Rocket's Goo-zooka, which increases the Retreat Cost of your opponent's Active Pokemon by 1.

Grass Knot is a strong and efficient attack that lets Whimsicott ex severely punish Pokemon with heavy Retreat Costs at the cost of only 2 Energy.
Meowscarada is played in the deck as well, as a non-ex attacker that can deal meaningful damage to ex Pokemon.

Use Whimsicott ex against Pokemon with high Retreat Costs, with Ariados amplifying its damage even further!
