Best Hydreigon Decks

Hydreigon Deck Variants Strengths and Weaknesses
Hoopa ex and Hydreigon Deck Icon Hoopa ex and Hydreigon Deck
[★ New ★]
Strengths:
• Hoopa ex has a low-cost Shadow Bullet that can immediately apply offensive pressure for only one Energy.
• Hydreigon's Roar in Unison allows it to set up an attack in a single turn.
Weaknesses:
• Besides Hydreigon, the deck may find it difficult to deal burst damage.
• Hydreigon is a Stage 2, which requires some effort and resources to set up.
Mega Absol ex and Hydreigon Deck Icon Mega Absol ex and Hydreigon Deck Strengths:

Weaknesses:
• Mega Absol ex has low HP compared to other Mega ex Pokemon.
Hydreigon Deck Icon Hydreigon Deck Strengths:
• Can set itself up to Attack with its Roar in Unison Ability.
• Can attack on consecutive turns, despite Hyper Ray's discard condition.
Weaknesses:

• Hydreigon is a Stage 2, which requires some effort and resources to set up.
Mega Absol ex and Nihilego Deck Icon Mega Absol ex and Nihilego Deck Strengths:
• Poison Barb and Nihilego's More Poison Ability can deal additional damage to the opponent's Active Pokemon.
• This deck focuses on disruption using Mega Absol ex's Darkness Claw.

• This deck has no recovery options.
Tauros ex and Hydreigon Deck Icon Tauros ex and Hydreigon Deck Strengths:

Hoopa ex can naturally be played in a deck with Hydreigon because both are Dark-types. Hydreigon can also help with Hoopa ex's weakness of being unable to deal burst damage by itself.

Deceptive Needle is a handy new Pokemon Tool that deals 10 damage to the opponent's Active Pokemon at the end of your turn. Attaching this to Hoopa ex lets you add more damage to the board.

Although Mega Absol ex's Darkness Claw has a great disruptive effect, it lacks the power you may want in the late game. Hydreigon is here to make up for Mega Absol ex's damage output. Switch it in if you need to deal with high HP Pokemon or if you need to go up against Pom-Pom Oricorio.

A copy of Lucky Ice Pop are slotted in to mitigate Hydreigon's damage from Roar in Unison.

Hydreigon boasts a number of powerful attributes. being a non-ex, single-point Pokemon that can deal high damage and accelerate Energy onto itself.

Being a Stage 2, however comes with the limitation of being difficult to set up and being reliant on multiple turns and finding Rare Candy.

This deck also runs non-ex Absol, whose Leap Over Attack can outright KO Mantyke and Magikarp.

This deck allows you to inflict Poison on your opponent in order to make up for Mega Absol ex's relatively low damage output. You can attach Poison Barb to Mega Absol ex in the Active Spot, then have Nihilego on your Bench to increase the Poison damage every turn.

Since you can use Mega Absol ex's Darkness Claw to get rid of some of your opponent's recovery options, this is a good way to deal damage over time. However, if you're in need of a large amount of damage in one move, you can attack with Hydreigon.

It's ideal to have Tauros ex in your Active Spot as soon as possible in order to quickly knock out your opponent's Pokemon before they can set up. Darkrai ex is best used to support it from the Bench, and Hydreigon can be set up on the Bench to come in and clean up in the late game.

Once Tauros ex is all set up, it's best to attach your Energy onto Darkrai, and use Hydreigon's Ability to generate Energy for itself. However, this can make it vulnerable to being switched into the Active Spot with an opposing Cyrus, so it's recommended to only use its Ability when you're ready to swap it in yourself.

To prevent your Tauros ex from inflicting damage on itself, you can use Will to make sure the coin flip is in your favor.

Hydreigon Deck Strategy Guide

Hydreigon's Explosive Offense

Hydreigon can accelerate Energy onto itself with Roar in Unison. Once set up, it can use Hyper Ray to deal a massive 130 damage, with the minor downside of discarding Energy, which it can get back the following turn.

Use Cleffa to Find Evolution Cards

Cleffa can search for Pokemon with Twinkly Call, increasing the deck's consistency. This becomes even more effective after you have used your Poke Balls, because it ensures that you will only find evolution cards with Twinkly Call.

Because evolving into Hydreigon is the deck's core strategy, Cleffa's setup is a valuable tool in the deck's arsenal.

KO Low-HP Pokemon with Absol

Non-ex Absol is a great option against low-HP Pokemon, particularly Mantyke and Magikarp. The option to KO these two Pokemon make the Absol a worthy inclusion to the deck.

Mega Absol ex is Also a Powerful Partner

Hydreigon with Mega Absol ex is also a strong combination. Mega Absol ex can discard your opponent's Supporter cards, severely limiting their options and disrupting their setup. Simply retreat Mega Absol ex into Hydreigon and score a KO to take your remaining points.

Best Mega Absol ex Decks and Card List

How to Beat Hydreigon Decks

Use Cyrus to Draw Out a Damaged Hydreigon

Because Hydreigon's Roar in Unison causes it to damage itself, it becomes easier to KO. Attack an Active Hydreigon for KO or gust out a damaged one from the Bench using Cyrus.
