Mega Sceptile ex and EW Butterfree Deck
[★ Best ★] |
Strengths:
• Mega Sceptile ex can deal 140 damage per turn in total with only 2 Energy. • Butterfree can evolve quickly thanks to Caterpie's Ability and Quick-Grow Extract. Weaknesses: • Discards an Energy whenever you use Terminating Tail, making it hard to set up your Benched Mega Sceptile ex. • Your Caterpie's can get KO'd easily before they evolve. |

This Butterfree-focused deck makes use of Caterpie's Quick Growth Ability to quickly set it up. Mega Sceptile ex is used in the deck as a way to close out games because of its ability to deal good damage for only 2 Energy.
This Grass deck makes use of Fragrant Forest and Quick-Grow Extract to speed up your setup.

Caterpie's Quick Growth Ability lets you evolve Caterpie into Metapod at the end of your opponent's turn. You can then evolve into Butterfree and start attacking for 60 damage as early as turn 2.

Caterpie's Quick Growth Ability lets it evolve into Metapod before it gets KOd by Darkrai's Bad Dreams Ability. The damage will go onto the newly evolved 80 HP Metapod.
Caterpie can then KO an Igglybuff in return.
If it is KOd by damage from an Attack however, and not an Ability like Bad Dreams, Quick Grow will not activate.

Butterfree decks are able to find necessary cards for their setup with the use of Caterpie's Quick Grow Ability, Quick-Grow Extract, and Fragrant Forest.

Caterpie can easily get KOd by the Pokemon in Mega Blaziken ex decks, and it would not be able to evolve with its Ability. Torchic and Sunny Form Castform can easily do so with only a single Energy attachment.
