Hal's Treasure Hunt Walkthrough

Objectives
1 Hal Told You About the Posts
2 Locate All Four Posts in Norgan Snowfield
3 How to Solve the Puzzle

Hal's Treasure Hunt tasks you with uncovering a Rusted Ring by solving the mystery of the wooden posts scattered across Norgan Snowfield.

Hal's Treasure Hunt Shortcut

Although you have to find four posts first, you can skip them and head straight for Rusted Ring. If you're stuck on the puzzle or just want to save time, you can head to the Rusted Ring's location here.

Find Four Posts with a Red Bandana

Spotting a Wooden Post

Hal asks for your help finding a lost treasure buried in Norgan Snowfield. He mentions 4 wooden posts scattered across the area, which look like small poles with a red bandana. Keep an eye out, as they are often partially buried in the snow.

Locate All Four Posts in Norgan Snowfield

All Wooden Posts - Hal

This quest might take place during a blizzard, so it's best that you try resting at a camp for better weather if you wish to uncover them manually. The Norgan Snowfield is littered with strong enemies as well, so be sure to heal and gear up some curatives and heatstones.

Consult with Hal

After uncovering all wooden posts, you can head back to the settlement and speak with Hal on how to solve the puzzle. If you try to draw a cross using the four points, it will direct you to the supposed spot.

How to Solve Hal's Treasure Hunt

Find the Rusted Ring in Snowslide Falls

Snowslide Pass Secret Entrance

Look for a hidden opening right in the middle of the X-mark. It may be concealed under a layer of snow. Just swing your sword at the snowbed to break it and reveal the path down to the treasure. This opening should lead you to Snowslide Pass. Alternatively, you can also access its legitimate entrance.

Pick Up the Rusted Ring

Rusted Ring Location

Not far from the opening of the tunnel should be where the Rusted Ring is. Once picked up, just bring it back to Hal at the settlement. He will excitingly clean out the ring for you on the spot, gifting you the Frostbright Ring afterwards.

The Frostbright Ring is a powerful new ring added in the DLC which grants immunity to blizzards and whiteout and prevents your stamina from slowly depleting.

If you encounter Aymond while you have the Frostbright Ring with you, he will ask for the ring. You can choose to exchange it for 5,000 Rift Crystals or keep it for yourself.
