How to Beat Satanachia

Satanachia is a secret superboss in the Dark Arisen DLC of Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). Learn where to find the superboss and how to fight it, the best build and party, and rewards here!

Satanachia Location

Abyss Ridge, Nifhel

Satanachia is fought in Nifhel which is accessible through the Abyss Ridge past Lorade Castletown during the Into Rancor postgame quest.

To enter Nifhel, you'll need to empower the soulless Godsbane first obtained during Soul Searching into the Blade of Rancor by closing vortexes throughout Norgan.

Collect Three Morbid Glare to Fight Empowered Satanachia

To fight Empowered Satanachia, you need to have beaten it once, then have three Morbid Glares in your inventory so you can fight its empowered state in Nifhel.

Head back to Abyss Ridge and use the Blade of Rancor to activate another Ruin-Night, then close Rancor Vortexes or Virulent Rancors across Norgan to get the Morbid Glares.

Moveset and Best Relic Skills

Archer really only needs Manifold Shot and Erupting Shot with Explosive Arrows for this fight as its other skills don't deal that much damage to the boss. Kite Arrow is an option to deal burst damage when Satanachia falls prone to the ground.

For relic skills, look for Myriad Shot to upgrade Manifold Shot and turn it into a powerful and accurate skill that you can use while chasing after Satanachia. Eagle Arrow is also good to have if you want to further boost the burst damage Kite Arrow deals to a prone Satanachia.

For the passive skills, try to get Demon Counter to increase the damage you deal against Demon-type enemies like Satanachia, and Critical Shot to boost the damage you inflict to its head and third eye, which you can easily do with this vocation.

Best Augments and Rings

Zeal, Endurance, and Exaltation are the most important augments for this fight to improve your stamina economy, while Lethality further boosts the damage you deal against the boss' weakpoints which you can easily do with manual aiming.

Intrepidity is your last skill and reduces the accumulation of your loss gauge when getting hit. You can unlock your 7th Augment Slot by purchasing the Augmentum Scriptura from Dwayne with 20 Norgan Ducats.

Finally, the best rings for this fight are the new Ring of Enervation to give you stamina sustain when attacking using skills and Ring of Demonsbane to give you an additional damage boost against Satanachia.

Best Party for Satanachia

Balanced Party

Main Pawn Hired Pawn Hired Pawn
Dragons Dogma 2 - Mage IconMage Dragons Dogma 2 - Fighter IconFighter Dragons Dogma 2 - Sorcerer IconSorcerer

We highly recommend setting your Main Pawn as a Mage so you can easily customize their skills and gear for the fight. High Palladium is a must to provide you passive shielding while Argent Solance, the upgraded Argent Succor obtained from Relics, provides additional stamina recovery on top of extended healing.

You should also try getting a weapon with the Deific Bolt special skill to upgrade your Mage's Exalted Bolt so they can provide passive damage against the boss and buff a hired Sorcerer.

Hire a Fighter to Draw Attention

A hired Fighter Pawn with Shield Summons or equipped with the Ring of Derision is good to have in this fight to draw Satanachia's attention away from you and your Main Pawn.

Try to look for a pawn with the relic skills Cloudfall Strike and Tornadic Strike for fast attacks and Punishing Counter to block and counter Satanachia's melee attacks.

Hire a Sorcerer for Mage Synergy

Sorcerers are a good pick for this fight as they synergize well with your support mage who will buff their regular attacks with Exalted Bolt. Try to look for Pawns with the Augural Flare as you can easily power up the spell with your bow attacks.

Grand Decanter is a good relic skill to look for since it has good range and tracks Satanachia's movements even when it teleports, on top of recovering the Sorcerer's loss gauge. Another skill to consider is Grand Spellhold as it allows the Sorcerer to instantly cast stored spells such as Maelstrom and Meteoron during the fight.

Enhanced Satanachia Party

Main Pawn Hired Pawn Hired Pawn
Dragons Dogma 2 - Mage IconMage Dragons Dogma 2 - Mage IconMage Dragons Dogma 2 - Fighter IconFighter

Satanachia can easily wipe out the entire party with its ultimate attack in its enhanced state, so having two Mages in your party ensures you have constant shielding and healing throughout the fight.

As with the regular version, a hired Fighter Pawn is mostly a meat shield and to draw the boss' attention away from you and your Pawns.

Both Mages Should Have Exalted Bolt

Make sure both Mage Pawns in your party have the Exalted Bolt skill, which should ideally have the Deific Bolt upgrade from relic weapons. This skill powers up their regular attacks and allows them to deal fast and consistent damage throughout the fight.

Sorcerers can technically deal more damage than a second Mage Pawn, but the spells they cast are very slow and can easily miss during the fight due to Satanachia teleporting around.

How to Beat Satanachia

Satanachia Fight Tips

Bring Curatives and Wakestones for the Fight

Satanachia has many powerful moves that can easily one-shot even the tankiest characters, so make sure you bring enough curatives such as Allheal Elixirs, Panaceas, and Regeneration Elixirs to quickly heal in case the boss depletes your HP.

You should also bring at least 5 or more Wakestones for the fight to survive some of Empowered Satanachia's moves, such as its Ultimate Attack which is very difficult to dodge.

Attack Its Head and Third Eye

Satanachia's main weakpoint is its head and its third eye and dealing enough damage here will momentarily stun the boss and even interrupt it when its teleporting.

Archers and Magick Archers have an easier time targeting this weakpoint since you can manually aim your attacks, but is more difficult to do for melee vocations.

Attack Right After it Performs a Move

Satanachia tends to linger in place for a while after performing a move, whether it's a magick attack or one of its physical combos.

If you're a melee vocation like Thief or Warrior, use this small window of opportunity to deal as much damage as possible with your skills so you can stun it and potentially knock it down prone!

Interrupt the Hex Attack

One of Satanachia's most dangerous attacks is a powerful hex attack which he does when he summons a swirling red orb above its head. Pawns targeted by this attack are immobilized and will eventually get hit by several debilitations, including mind control, forcing you to kill the affected Pawn.

If Satanachia targets your character, the hex will instead deal continuous damage which will ramp up over time until it kills you outright.

You can interrupt this attack by attacking Satanachia's head and third eye which you can easily do as the boss remains stationary when it casts this attack.

Avoiding the Homing Orbs

Satanachia's deadliest attack are its homing orbs, which the boss will sometimes cast alongside its regular attacks. Although not as hard hitting as some of its moves, they have great tracking and will home in on your character and will always flinch your character and interrupt your attacks.

Satanachia can summon a horde of these homing orbs during its ultimate attack which will always kill you unless you manage to dodge or outheal the attack. Thieves can easily dodge this move by using Formless Feint though you need to watch your stamina. Mystic Spearhands and Mages can also block this attack by constantly reapplying Mirour Shelde and High Palladium respectivley.

If you lack these moves try running to the side of the stage in a zigzag as the projectiles tend to curve around the center before attempting to home into you.

Run Around When It Casts Maelstrom

When Satanachia summons a swirling white orb above its head, it will cast a more powerful version of Maelstrom that summons four tornados. These maelstroms will first emerge right in front of Satanachia and will then roam around the stage.

Although the Maelstrom will not instantly kill your party, it deals heavy damage-over-time as you're lifted in the air and will end with you receiving fall damage, on top of interrupting your skills and attacks.

Try to stay away from Satanachia when it casts this move and keep running around the battlefield when the Maelstroms are present. It's possible to interrupt Satanachia and prevent it from using this move, though you'll need to quickly deal enough damage to its head in a short amount of time to stun the boss.

Go Magic archer. Shadefetter bolt uptime is too good with the amount of a control it gives you. You 're pawns actually have time to do something instead of you running around and dodging 90% of the time.
