A Howl in the Dark

A Howl in the Dark is a quest added in the Dark Arisen DLC of Dragon’s Dogma 2 (DD2). This guide will show you a walkthrough of A Howl in the Dark, including its quest location and rewards!

Objectives

Head to the Blackdog’s Last Known Location

Blackdog Location

Morgus will approach you and explains that a beast attacked him and took his pendant. He asks you to track the beast and reclaim it.

Travel to the area east of Norgan Snowfield, northeast of the Icefall Tunnels dungeon where the Blackdog was last seen. We recommend porting to Gagana's Grotto and walking from there.

Defeat the Blackdog

Defeat the Blackdog
Blackdogs only appear at night, and there will be a whiteout in this area during the encounter, so make sure to bring Heatstones.

Blackdogs take no damage while its aura is active, so dispel it first by dealing Holy damage.

If you don't have a weapon or skill with Holy damage, the easiest way is equipping the Mage in your party with High Empyrean or Virtuous Bolt.

Return the Pendant to Morgus

Deliver the Pendant
After defeating the Blackdog and retrieving the pendant, head back to Northwall Campground and give it to him to complete the quest.

If you have progressed up to the middle of Soul Searching quest, Morgus’s party will have moved on. In that case, you can find him at Lorade Castletown instead.

Note: If he's not there, finish Soul Searching for him and his party to be back in camp.
