Let the roots reach the heavens, let hatred sprawl across the land... and let the wrath from the years of abandonment echo in every legend.

Hatred That Sprawls Stage 4 Mechanics

Normal • After the battle begins, the operators' Max SP is increased to 400.
• Gloomwald's Rage will enter its charging state on a regular basis and gain a large number of shield stacks. When its charging up is complete, it will cast its ultimate that deals massive DMG to all operators. Break all shield stacks to interrupt the charging state.
• When Gloomwald's Rage enters its charging state, it also summons 4 Woodcraft Wanderers. After a Woodcraft Wanderer's shield stacks are shattered, it will immediately disappear and restore 200 SP for the operators.
• While Gloomwald's Rage is protected by shield stack(s), operators no longer have SP regeneration and their Final Strikes and Finishers no longer recover SP.
• Enemies have the same resistance against every element.

How to Beat Hatred That Sprawls Stage 4

  1. Break the Shields Immediately
  2. Defeat the Unshielded Enemy When Surrounded

Break the Shields Immediately

Shields can only be broken with skills or Final Strikes. Save Ultimates to aid in shieldbreaking, and rely on allies with Combo Skills that do not rely on Battle Skills, Arts Inflictions, Arts Reactions, and Vulnerables to enable their skills.

Breaking the shields on Gloomwald's Rage is required to remove the SP lockout. Below are some character-specific tips that can help deal with the stage's shield mechanic:

Use Skills that Trigger on Final Strikes

Skills that trigger on Final Strike are efficient tools to break the Gloomwald Rage's shields. Its shield depletion stacks with the Final Strike itself, reducing multiple shields at once when triggered. These include Perlica's and Ardelia's Combo Skills, and Last Rite's cheap Battle Skill.

Alternatively, the Combo Skills can be staggered to deplete the shields of different mobs as well. This is especially useful when breaking Woodcraft Wanderers to recover SP.

Toggle Liino's Battle Skill On and Off

If Liino is on the team, she can toggle her Battle Skill on and off to deplete enemy shields. This only requires 25 SP to cast, but enters a cooldown of 3 seconds when disabled before it can be toggled again.

Use Si's Battle Skill or Arcane's Ultimate On the Woodcraft Wanderers

When the Gloomwald's Rage gains 10 shield stacks and summons 4 Woodcraft Wanderers, defeating a Woodcraft Wanderer restores 200 SP for the team. These Wanderers are defeated immediately after their shield stack is removed.

Si's Battle Skill can be used to efficiently dispatch the Wanderers, as it depletes a shield on-cast and when she ends her Battle Skill early. This depletes 2 shields at a cost of 115 SP, and using it on 2 Woodcraft Wanderers nets a profit of 285 SP for use.

Alternatively, using Arcane's Ultimate can defeat all Woodcraft Wanderers at once, restoring 800 SP while depleting the Gloomwald's Rage shield stack by 1. Note that the maximum SP for this stage is 400, so this method is only recommended for a quick burst of SP for the team.

Defeat the Unshielded Enemy When Surrounded

When 5 enemies are summoned to surround you, look for an unshielded enemy and defeat them immediately. This breaks their link for a safe escape.
