How to Unlock Cliffside Riddles of Steel
Finish Deep Vaulted Steel
Cliffside Riddles of Steel is unlocked after completing the Deep Vaulted Steel quest.

- Talk to Walton
- Go to the Location Marked By Walton
- Ascend the Cliff
- Read the Inscriptions
- Investigate the Three Sword Steles
- Photograph the Entire Place From A Vantage Point
- Photograph the Three Sword Steles and Smartie
- Tell Walton About the Survey
Talk to Walton
After completing the Deep Vaulted Steel quest, you will end at the Deep Gorge Vault where Walton is at. From there, you can talk to him by selecting Walton once near.
Go to the Location Marked By Walton
After talking to him, Walton will ask for you to head to the marked location. You can use the nearest Tele-Protocol Point in Sword Vault Dale to get there. You will be greeted by Smartie once you arrive.

Ascend the Cliff
Ascend the cliff by interacting with the rope in the area.
Read the Inscriptions
Once you reach the top of the cliff, there will be an inscription nearby. Read this tablet by selecting View once near.
Investigate the Three Sword Steles

| 1 |  The first sword stele is found just before a pond and can be interacted with as soon as you come near it. |
| 2 |  To get to the second sword stele, you will need to clear Blight and destroy its core with Liquid Heavy Xiranite. Once this is done, you can select Interact to activate this sword stele. |
| 3 |  After clearing the second sword stele, head up a path to get to the third one. Be prepared for combat as rockhowlers will ambush you. Once they are defeated, you can now interact with the third sword stele. |
You will then be prompted to investigate the three sword steles mentioned in the inscription. Their locations will be marked, so follow the markers to find and interact with the sword steles.
Photograph the Entire Place From A Vantage Point
After interacting with all three Sword Steles, you will be prompted to photograph the entire place from a vantage point. Follow the marker to Smartie's previous vantage point to complete this objective.
You will need to clear some Blight with Liquid Heavy Xiranite and defeat enemies near the point.
Photograph the Three Sword Steles and Smartie
Upon arriving at the vantage point, use your Camera from Easy Tools to take a picture. Make sure that all three Sword Steles (and Smartie!) are visible in the photograph.
Tell Walton About the Survey
Once you've taken a photo that fulfills all the requirements, you can head back to Walton to tell him about the survey. After you submit the photo and talk to Walton, the mission will be completed.
