Progression Materials are items used to improve an Operator's performance. This includes items that can level up Operators and weapons, increase their level cap, or improve their skills.

Natural Resources are items obtained in the wild. These can be plants harvested in the wild and their corresponding seeds, ores mined from mineral beds, or naturally occurring fluids extracted from its source.

Gatherables are obtained from either interacting to defeating entities in Talos-II. These are primarily enemy drops or from creatures such as bugs and burdenbeasts found in the wild.

Rare Materials are resources obtained in Rare Gathering Sites and Rare Mining Spots in Talos-II, as well as their respective seeds. These are sourced purely from exploration, and are used to upgrade Operators and weapons along with Progression Materials.

AIC Products are items produced in the Automated Industry Complex (AIC). These items process Natural Resources in the various AIC Facilities available to create useful items such as components to create gears, certain Tacticals to restore HP in combat, or batteries to power the base or sold for Stock Bills.

Usable Items are consumables that can either restore HP or temporarily increase the stats of Operators. These may be produced in the AIC or are crafted in the Backpack.

Functional Items have special uses, often meant to upgrade features tied to game progression. These items have special acquisition methods, such as progressing the main missions or selling items in the Outpost.

Operator Gifts are items given to playable characters to increase their Trust. Reaching certain Trust levels can unlock additional Talents that can increase an Operator's attribute, in addition to profile entries that expand on their lore and background.
