To Gaze Upon the Dreaming Pale Crown Quest Guide

After reaching the teleport waypoint in front of the Pale Crown Palace, head to the palace's front doors. You will find that the outer wall gates are covered in ice.
Before entering the Palace, you can explore around the entrance area to get Cryoculus 126 and 127.

![]() Found on the fountain in front of the palace. |

Head to the left pathway where you will encounter 3 fae enemies. Then, deconstruct the prime icicle nearby to pass the outer wall of the palace. Go up the staircase and enter the doors to arrive at the Frozen Royal Hall.
| How to Open the Palace Gates | |
|---|---|
| 1 | ![]() Observe the placement of the two statues in front of the door. Both statues need to be aligned to unlock the door. |
| 2 | ![]() Use the Eye of Graeae to remove the ice cube directly behind the right statue, then push the statue towards the plate. Interact with the door to open it. |

After entering the Royal Hall, shoot the Kresnik's Torch at the top of the ceiling.

Shooting the Kresnik's Torch will spawn a horde of enemies. Defeat them until the area is clear.

Approach the throne in the middle of the Royal Hall to receive instructions from the Eye of Graeae on how to unlock the door at the back.

To open the door to the Royal Hall, push the statues from the left and right rooms towards the plates at the bottom of the staircase, the same way you solved the puzzle by the hall's entrance.
| How to Get Left Statue | |
|---|---|
| 1 | ![]() Swim through the sunken left archway for a couple of chests and a Cryoculus. Then, make your way up the stairs to reach the left statue's location. Defeat the enemies to freely roam around the area. |
| 2 | ![]() You will see that the statue is being held up by water. Drop down the hole in the lower right corner of the room, and build a Launching Platform using Prime Ice for use later. |
| 3 | ![]() Shoot the Kresnik's Torch in the Royal Hall again to freeze the area, including the water pushing up the statue. Return to the left statue via the Launching Platform. |
| 4 | ![]() Build a Basic Heat Source near the two frozen water pillars to make the chest and the statue drop down. |
| 5 | ![]() Push the statue towards the same hole in the corner to make it drop to the level below. |
| 6 | ![]() Before continuing to push the statue, build two Ice Cubes near the left plate to prevent the statue from sliding further than it should. |
| How to Get Right Statue | |
|---|---|
| 1 | ![]() To the right of the right plate, you will find another hole between your current floor level and the higher one. Build a Launching Platform to enter the room and immediately see the statue. |
| 2 | ![]() Head to the rightmost part of the room to find another water pillar with a platform on top. Build a Basic Heat Source nearby to melt it down. Push the statue in the direction of where the water pillar was. |
| 3 | ![]() Then, shoot the Kresnik's Torch to melt the ice in the entire area, letting the water pillar push the statue up with the same platform. |
| 4 | ![]() Shoot the Kresnik's Torch again to solidify the water to be able to push the statue down the ramp and down into the hole. |
| 5 | ![]() Before continuing to push the statue, build an Ice Cube to the immediate left of the right plate to prevent the statue from sliding further than it should. Both statues on the plates completes the puzzle. |

Completing the puzzle will trigger a dialogue scene showing the Traveler a memory of Aksinya talking to a mysterious creature. Then, another dialogue with Paimon and the Eye of Graeae will occur.

After the dialogue sequences, go through the door at the back of the Royal Hall.

Approach the bridge on the other side of the door which will immediately fall apart. Use the diamond sigils midair to grapple your way back up.
Keep grappling towards the sigils until you reach a mechanism to call an elevator. Ride the elevator upwards.

Upon reaching the higher floor, defeat the newly spawned enemies. Then, cross the bridge and activate the elevator again.

After passing the nearby Teleport Waypoint, Paimon points out another Kresnik's Torch. Shoot the torch to melt the ice in front of you, then interact with the mechanism to rotate the tower.

Cross the connected bridges and get to the opposite side of the Kresnik's Torch tower. However, the water has not melted at the end. Build an Ice Cube over the leakage to melt the ice, then use the mechanism to open the door.

Activate the lift behind the door to ascend. You can defeat the newly spawned beasts or ignore them and immediately grapple to the diamond sigils to get to the other side of the broken bridge. Then, climb the stairs.

Once you arrive at another statue, solve the neaby statue puzzle to open the gates.
| How to Open the Gates | |
|---|---|
| 1 | ![]() Interact with the mechanism twice next to the statue to rotate the Kresnik's Torch tower to connect the torch to your location. |
| 2 | ![]() If the torch is still on the orange setting, the icicles in front of the statue will melt automatically upon the bridges' connection. Otherwise, shoot the Kresnik's Torch to its orange setting to melt the icicles. |
| 3 | ![]() Then, shoot the torch to the blue setting to reform the ice around the plate only. |
| 4 | ![]() Push the statue down the ramp towards the plate to solve the puzzle and open the gates. |

Use the elevator behind the opened gate to continue ascending. A cutscene where Zver, from the memory in the Royal Hall, will start attacking you.

During this section, you will be forced to fight Zver on the tower. Space is limited so time your evasive manuevers well and open fire whenever possible.
| How to Defeat Zver | |
|---|---|
| 1 | ![]() Use your firearms to deal damage to Zver and dodge his Electro projectiles when needed. |
| 2 | ![]() Destroy the Anemo orbs around Zver when he's charging up a heavy anemo attack. Destroying all of the orbs makes him vulnerable and open to all attacks. |
| 3 | ![]() Once he's at 50% health or lower, ascend the stairs of the tower to continue the fight at the top. |
| 4 | ![]() At the top of the tower, Zver can unleash a beam of Anemo and Electro simultaneously. You can slide underneath the beams or hide behind the broken pillars to avoid getting hit by them. |
| 5 | ![]() Keep attacking him and destroying his Anemo orbs until his health is at the lowest. He will then lunge at you and immediately trigger a series of dialogues. |

Use the Grappling Hooks to reach the highest tower, The Ruined Hvergelmir, on the other side.

Inside Hvelgelmir, retrieve part of the Eye of Graeae's body on top of the ruins in the center of the room.

Upon picking up the Eye of Graeae part, dialogue will occur between you, Paimon, and the Eye of Graeae. The end of the conversation completes the quest chain of On One Side a Palace, On the Other a Tomb.

Not only that, it blocks all possible coop options. I don't understand why... For once, I was actually going to hang out with a friend, but now I won't be able to, because I've been locked in this for days already and still more of this quest line to go...
