| Character | Best Vision and Role Strategy |
|---|---|
Rain
|
Role: Tank / Attacker ・Use Provoke to draw enemy attacks and combine it with physical counterattacks to retaliate. |
Lasswell
|
Role: Attacker / Breaker ・Deal damage while reducing enemy Stagger gauges. Build the LB gauge to use Limit Bursts more frequently. |
Fina
|
Role: Healer / Magic Attacker ・Use Leah for story progression and healing, then switch to Terra for boss battles where Fina can focus on dealing magic damage. |
Rain works well as a tank with Warrior of Light, whose defensive abilities complement Rain's Provoke. Physical counterattacks let him retaliate while drawing enemy attention.
Lasswell is best used as an attacker and breaker with Cloud. Focus on reducing enemy Stagger gauges while building the LB gauge to unleash Limit Bursts more often.
Fina can use Leah for reliable healing during story progression. For boss battles, Terra's Magic Boost can increase Fina's magic damage at the cost of higher MP consumption, making her more effective as a damage dealer.
| Character | Recommended Vision and Role |
|---|---|
Rain
|
Role: Tank / Attacker ・Focus on tanking during boss battles with Warrior of Light. Combine Provoke with physical counterattacks, and use Flame Sword to contribute damage. |
Lasswell
|
Role: Attacker / Breaker ・Continue using Cloud to deal damage and reduce enemy Stagger gauges. Prioritize abilities that help refill the LB gauge. |
Fina
|
Role: Healer / Magic Attacker ・Use healing magic such as Cure and summon Espers when you have an opportunity to deal additional damage. Inflict Poison or Blind on bosses susceptible to these status ailments. |
Lid
|
Role: Magic Attacker ・Equip the Dreadwing Mallet to boost Lid's magic attack. Terra's Magic Boost further increases her magic damage. |
Lid joins the party in Chapter 2 and can become a powerful magic attacker with the Dreadwing Mallet, obtained from collecting Tablet Shards. Pairing her with Terra is especially effective because Terra provides a magic attack bonus and the Magic Boost mastery ability.
For Rain, continue using Warrior of Light to improve his defensive capabilities while retaining some offensive options. Lasswell can continue using Cloud to deal damage and break enemies, while Fina supports the party with healing and magic attacks. Against bosses susceptible to status ailments, Fina can also use Tronn's Poison and Blind abilities.
Continue developing your existing Visions and aim to raise their Mastery Rank to unlock useful abilities and bonuses.
| Character | Recommended Vision and Role |
|---|---|
Rain
|
Role: Tank / Attacker ・Continue using Warrior of Light to tank during boss battles. Learn useful offensive masteries from Squall to increase Rain's damage output. |
Lasswell
|
Role: Attacker / Breaker ・Use Cloud for breaking and dealing damage during boss battles. Firion is also useful against enemies weak to lightning, and his masteries can help improve Limit Burst availability. |
Fina
|
Role: Healer / Magic Attacker ・Support the party with Cure and other healing magic. Onion Knight can provide additional utility through its masteries, while Leah is an alternative when Fina needs more healing support. |
Lid
|
Role: Magic Attacker ・Continue using Lid as a magic attacker with Terra. Once Tronn is sufficiently developed, consider switching to it for its magic abilities and Stagger-focused bonuses. |
| Reserve Party Members | |
Nichol
|
Role: Support / Debuffer ・Keep Nichol in reserve while developing his support and debuffing abilities. Terra and Zidane can complement his magic and debuff-focused playstyle, while Leah is an option for additional healing. |
Nichol joins the party in Chapter 3. His party-wide formation abilities provide useful support, but his low HP and physical defense can make him difficult to keep alive. Keeping him in reserve while developing his abilities is a good option. He can also work as a debuffer, especially when paired with abilities that increase damage against enemies affected by debuffs.
For your active party, continue using Warrior of Light to support Rain's tank role and Cloud to help Lasswell break enemies. Firion is another option for Lasswell, particularly against lightning-weak bosses. Fina can use Tronn or Onion Knight for additional utility, while Lid can continue dealing magic damage with Terra or switch to Tronn once it is sufficiently developed.
Use the newly available Visions to unlock additional masteries and tailor your party to the bosses and enemies you encounter in Chapter 3.
Decide which characters will serve as your main damage dealers and defensive support. Consider each character's unique skills and abilities when deciding which roles they should fill in your party.
Build a party that can deal consistent damage while staying alive during battles. Having a character who can draw enemy attacks and another who can heal the party can help you survive longer fights, especially against bosses.

Equip each character with a Vision that complements their role. For example, a defensive Vision can help a tank protect the party, while a Vision with offensive abilities can improve a damage dealer's performance.
Best Visions for Each Character
You can equip abilities learned from Visions even when those Visions are not currently equipped, as long as you stay within the AP limit. If you want to use abilities from other Visions, increase their Mastery Rank to unlock the abilities you need.
Combining abilities from different Visions lets you customize each character's build and improve your party's performance in battle.
