Final Fantasy Resonance is a turn-based JRPG that allows you to use up to four party members. It features a stagger exploitation system, as well as Visions that you can equip to bolster your skills in battle.

The enemies in Final Fantasy Resonance have a Stagger gauge that you need to break to enter a Bonus Phase, which gives the character who broke the gauge another turn. Staggering an enemy will also prevent them from moving, assuming they have yet to take action during the turn.
You can do more damage to the stagger gauge by exploiting the enemy's weakness or using a skill with a high stagger rating. However, if the enemy is higher leveled than your characters, their Stagger gauge will take less damage than usual.
Stagger Guide: How to Stagger Enemies Effectively
The combat in Final Fantasy Resonance features a clear turn order showing the sequence of characters and enemies. The fastest character usually goes first, while the slowest goes last in the order.
You can manipulate this order in your favor by staggering enemies before they can act.

The main draw of Final Fantasy Resonance's combat is the ability to equip Visions, who are heroes from other Final Fantasy games.
Each Vision grants different abilities and skills that you can use, so try mixing and matching them with your characters to see which ones best synergize with each character's role.
Status ailments are detrimental to whomever they affect, as they can negatively affect performance in battle. Enemies and party members alike can inflict status ailments on one another. Status ailments can be healed using certain items and white magic spells.
All Status Effects and How to Cure Them
In addition to status ailments, certain spells and skills can grant buffs and debuffs to your party or enemies. These effects usually temporarily modify a character's or enemy's stats during battle.
For example, some buffs increase a character's Speed, Attack, or Defense, while debuffs do the opposite.
Espers are creatures that Fina can summon to turn the tides of battle. It costs Fina 50 MP to summon an Esper, and the latter fights alongside the party for 3 turns before unleashing a finishing attack and leaving the battlefield.

We recommend exploiting enemies' weaknesses, as this inflicts more damage to their HP and stagger gauges. Use Leah's Libra skill to scan enemy information, which includes their weaknesses and resistances.
If all enemies on the field have low stagger gauges, we recommend multicasting your spells to break their gauges all at once. When the stagger gauges of all enemies are broken, you'll enter Sweeping Stagger, where you'll gain additional turns before the Resonance phase, where you can use a Vision's special move.
Don't hesitate to use restorative items such as Potions, Ethers, or any of their variants to heal your party members if they're low on HP or MP. You can also use elemental scrolls to inflict elemental damage on enemies if you don't have the proper spell equipped or are out of MP.
Use healing items, such as Potions, to inflict damage on Undead enemies. You can also use a Phoenix Down on an Undead enemy to kill them instantly!

Equip and level up a Vision's Mastery Rank to unlock their abilities and skills, which remain available even if you unequip them later. Leveling up a Vision also grants permanent stat boosts that persists even if they are no longer equipped.
If the enemies are too high-level, deal heavy damage, or if you are close to death, don't hesitate to escape. Try fighting them again later when you are much stronger.
