Some monsters like the Cutpurse, Ghost and Aqua Elemental has a chance to drop Ether when defeated.

How to Farm Ethers in the Early Game

Farm Ethers at Siren's Tower

Recommended: Finish the Kolobos Ruins Quest
The Siren's Tower is not fully explorable by default. To unlock the doors to the tower proper, finish the events at Kolobos Ruins first. After that, the next objective is to talk to the sailor at Grandport Harbor.

Players can still encounter the needed monsters even if they skip this part, but it is recommended for future convenience.

Reach Siren's Tower
Siren
After talking to the sailor at Grandport Harbor, head to Siren's Tower which is to the north of the harbor. Fina will be asking the Siren for help and the doors to the interior will open.

Make sure the characters in the party are at least Level 11 for easier battles.

Defeat Aqua Elementals, Green Slimes, or Mages
Aqua Elemental and Mages
Roam around Siren's tower until you encounter Aqua Elementals, Green Slimes, and/or Mages. These enemies tend to spawn in the same encounter and all have the chance to drop Ether when defeated. Utilize weaknesses to defeat them faster!

Repeat the Process
The drops are not guaranteed so keep repeating battles until you get enough Ether as needed. You can also escape from battles that don't involve Aqua Elementals, Green Slimes, or Mages to save time.

How to Use Ether

Restore 50 MP

Ether

Ether is a consumable that restores 50 MP when used on an ally. This can be used outside or during battle.

There is another type of Ether called Mist Ether. Upon usage, it restores 50MP to all allies instead.

Can You Buy Ethers?

Ethers Are Purchasable in Chapter 2 Locations

Ether Shop

Ether is available to be purchased starting from Chapter 2 in Dialmagia, the Machinopolis and other shops moving forward.

Do note that Ether is still not available to be purchased from locations during Chapter 1.
