Asassins Creed 2 is an action-adventure game that follows Desmond Miles' ancestor, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, as the latter seeks revenge for the death of his father and brothers. The game is set 15th-century Italy during the Renaissance featuring explorable cities in an open-world format. It followed two direct sequels, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations, exploring Ezio's later adventures in Rome and Constantinople. It has also set the gameplay standards for succeeding Assassin's Creed games before the series' soft reboot and shift to action-RPG starting with Assassin's Creed: Origins

I played all Assassin's Creed games (except for Assassin's Creed Liberation HD) on the PS3 but the second game is the most memorable and what made me like the series.

Chad / 30s / Male

Ezio is the only assassin I played but his story was pretty cool

Hundreds of hours into post game and I still kept coming back just to breath in the game world and just do mundane things like hunting. It was so immersive

Ralph / 30s / Male

John Marston's death during the penultimate part of the game, and the subsequent "epilogue" where you play as Jack Marston and close the cycle of revenge.

While most Call of Duty games are known for the Multiplayer feature, Call of Duty Black Ops presents one of the franchise's best written storylines in its Campaign, along with one of the most memorable plot twists in gaming. Black Ops also features the Kino Der Toten map for its Zombies mode, which is arguably the franchise's most memorable and iconic map.

This was my first Call of Duty game so perhaps I'm biased. But it was always the games set in different time periods that made me more interested in them. Watching the story unravel to its plot twists was extremely satisfying, and I've had a lot of fun in its multiplayer modes with friends.

Halo 3 puts players back in the shoes of Master Chief as the game looks so close the story of the first Halo trilogy. It features a lengthy campaign that can be both played Solo or with up to 3 other players. The multiplayer also received a lot of improvements from the previous titles as it included a lot of tools to truly customize your experience with things like the Forge, which allows you to make your own custom game modes.

It features a story mode where you can dance to songs from different eras, with tracks spanning multiple decades. It's also more choreography-focused and less of a party game than other dance games, with an emphasis on challenging routines that make you feel like you're actually performing rather than just playing.

GTAV was by far the most ambitious, and most awaited release from the Developers at the time (at least until before GTA 6 was announced to be in development). GTAV greatly expands the explorable areas in free-roam, compared to its predecessors which only featured only a smaller area. Story-wise, GTAV presented a unique storyline with three Main Characters with interconnected stories, along with different endings depending on your final choice. The game takes its role playing aspect to another level by expanding the Post-Game and Online content to include stock market trading, owning Properties, and managing different Businesses, which makes the game's replayability near endless. GTAV stands the test of time, and to this day holds a respectable amount of Daily Concurrent players, a testament of how great the game was, and how well taken care of the game is many years after its launch.

Halo 4 is a Sci-Fi First Person Shooter game that features the return of Master Chief, but instead of his usual grandiose and heroics, features a more introspective storyline that dives deeper into the relationship between Master Chief and Cortana. Halo 4 also features improved graphics and art design, making each chapter feel more like a cinematic experience, rather than just a game level. Despite the mixed reception from longtime fans, Halo 4 has one of the most rewarding easter eggs in the Master Chief unmasked cutscene, which can only be viewed by clearing the game in its hardest difficulty.

A die-and-retry game where an unbelievable number of zombies come at you. Playing on low difficulty is heresy, so I'd want you to play on high difficulty in a state of pandemonium. It's hard enough to make you want to quit, but I'd want you to pull through it with friends.

Borderlands 2 is a Looter Shooter that has the best storyline across all the Borderlands games. Following the success of its predecessor, Borderlands 2 takes the elements that made the first game successful, and improves on it by adding more quality of life features, as well as adding more loot and enemies to shoot. The story of Borderlands 2 follows your character's journey from being a simple Vault Hunter into being a legendary hero in Pandora as you become more and more entangled with Roland and the Crimson Raiders. Having one of the most iconic, and one of the best written villains in fiction in Handsome Jack, the game's storytelling is executed beautifully, taking you on a rollercoaster ride of different emotions, while still retaining the game's crass and playful humor.

Dead Space is a sci-fi survival horror game centered on Isaac Clarke's journey to solve the mystery of an alien artifact known as the Marker. The Marker is capable of reanimating corpses called Necropmorphs, and they are eliminated through dismemberment rather than aiming for the vitals. Conventional weaponry is ineffective against these creatures but engineer Isaac wields tools such as the Plasma Cutter that can clear through the hordes of infection running towards him. His main goal is to survive through this ordeal against corporate greed, religious fanaticism, and cosmic horrors using all the scarce resources he can find in the world. The game features diagetic presentation through their game elements where the UI is a tangible object that the characters in-game can see and interact. This brings the atmosphere and the vibes of the world closer to the players.

Dishonored is more than just a violent stealth game; it was a redefinition of the stealth-action genre, allowing players to execute the most creative approaches to clearing a level. The game puts you in the shoes of Corvo Attano, the disgraced royal protector turned vigilante assassin for the Loyalist Conspiracy. Assassin is a term that can be used depending on how every player approaches their playthrough, as we can quickly learn that the best outcomes often come from the most creative approaches. Dishonored hammers down the lesson “Actions have consequences” through how your allies and the world react to your playstyle. As you progress through each level, leaving or not leaving piles of enemy corpses in your wake, the world changes alongside your choices, transforming into a grim reminder of your violent actions or a reflection of your efforts to maintain the moral high ground. Perhaps the greatest strength of the game is the freedom it provides to players and the proof that the stealth-action genre does not necessarily mean stealth-violence.

Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope is an action-adventure JRPG, as well as the fourth title in the Star Ocean series. The game features typical JRPG elements, such as the usual party roles in a 4-man group during battles. However, rather than having high-fantasy influences in its storyline, the plot leans more on sci-fi storytelling, where the cast find themselves traveling to different planets. Star Ocean is considered as the 'cousin' game of the Tales games, where Tales' fast-paced battle system was integrated in Star Ocean as well. It's a good game for people who want to experience an adventure in space, while having that grinding experience, as well unraveling secret bosses, recruiting party members, and unlocking the best endgame equipment against the final boss.

- The fourth entry in the Star Ocean series, released on the XBOX360 - With gorgeous graphics making use of the XBOX360's performance, it's pretty enough to hold its own against current-gen machines - The battle system is superb; you deal damage by making enemies defenseless using the special movement "Blindside," which lets you take an enemy's back. Depending on the character, you're invincible while moving, or you can't attack a weakness without a Blindside, the system is very fun. - Besides Blindside, there's an enhanced-state system that consumes the Rush Gauge to nullify flinching + speed up motions, making it rich in strategy. With Blindside, if you get hit and flinch while moving it gets canceled, but if you use it while in Rush state you won't flinch even when hit, giving you the rush of using it well. Enemies also use Rush to nullify flinching, but on our side you can Blindside and aim for a critical attack to make them flinch, which is another part of the battle's fun. - There's a scene midway through the story where the protagonist gets dejected, and since that dejected scene is long, it sometimes irritates you a bit (even if it's understandable that it turns out that way) - The graphics are pretty, but the character modeling is a bit doll-like and somewhat odd - By making use of the series' familiar Item Creation, you can get incredibly strong from the midgame - There's a hidden dungeon too, of course, and for people who want to grind on the battle side, the real deal starts after clearing - The battle side in particular is fun, so you're guaranteed to become a battle junkie

Show original (日本語)

- A masterpiece put out into the world by the team that created Square Enix's "SaGa" - The battle system expressed on an army-vs-army scale is distinctive and one of Last Remnant's joys - Battles where up to 5 people form one unit called a Union, and 5 Unions of up to 18 members fight enemy forces, are fun - Battles deeply involve Union positioning, and strategies like pinning an enemy force with 2 Unions and hitting the defenseless army from behind are fun - Furthermore, "morale" is involved too; when allies gain the advantage, ally-army commands can use moves usable while advantageous, and the BGM changes to one that plays only when advantageous, an important element. Conversely, when at a disadvantage, the BGM changes to one with a disadvantaged feel, so tasting the battlefield atmosphere through the BGM is a good point too - The protagonist's builds are wide-ranging, and trying to master them (aiming for the Holy Order) requires grinding, deep knowledge, and an extraordinary amount of time, so it's second to none in grind value - The hidden boss "the one called God" has extremely harsh conditions, a timed event where it's game over if you can't beat it within 10 turns, so it's one grind element and very challenging - You can taste a SaGa feel everywhere too, so people who like SaGa will definitely come to love it, a masterpiece

Show original (日本語)
