The Last of Us is a linear third-person survival-horror action game. The game is a series of combat encounters with varying enemy types and numbers on varying map layouts. In these encounters, players can choose to take sneaky or aggressive approaches, or a mix of both, while scavenging and managing scarce resources. But at its heart, The Last of Us is a character-focused, narrative game about love and how far we, as people, are willing to go and how much we are willing to sacrifice for it.

"The Last of Us" is a work with, above all, an extremely high level of story completion. Set in a world where an unknown fungus has spread and civilization has collapsed, it focuses on the relationship of two people traveling to survive. Early in the story, they had the distance of strangers acting together for a purpose. But as they continued their harsh journey, trust gradually formed, and by the end they became bound by a bond like a true parent and child. Precisely because that change is portrayed carefully, the choice at the story's climax carried enormous weight. It's a work that makes you think about which you would choose when weighing a collapsed world against a single child as precious as your own daughter. Not merely a zombie survival game, but a story depicting human love and ego, loss and rebirth, it remains strongly impressed on me even now. Also, the PvP that's a bonus element of the main game is quite polished too, and its rare gameplay of a third-person shooter incorporating crafting elements was appealing. Tense maneuvering, resource management, and team coordination are important, and it has such deep-rooted popularity that there are still fans playing it today.

『The Last of Us』は、とにかくストーリーの完成度が高い作品です。

One of the best games I have ever played in the PS3. The story was so captivating from the start until the end. I didn't really expect how heart shattering the beginning was when Sarah died right in front of Joel. How it really affected him later in his life and how Ellie later filled up that void. Their bond throughout the whole playthrough was really fulfilling. The gameplay was also very immersive, and I really enjoyed the combat. You could feel the tension whenever Joel was backed into a corner against multiple enemies, whether humans or infected. As Ellie, it was also engaging how you could use your surroundings to take down enemies or escape danger.

Resident Evil 4 was a departure from the style of previous RE games, adopting a rural Spanish backdrop replete with villagers and cults. The US president's daughter has been abducted and Leon must save her, although things turn south when his arrival turns bloody. The action is brought closer to the player, with an over the shoulder perspective that made things more tense, and the tank controls may have required a little getting used to, which is why quick reflexes and spatial awareness were of top importance. Inventory and resource management were also a key part of the game experience, making RE4 one of the most successful and beloved survival horror games in the past couple decades.

What stands out to me is how the game balances action and fear. I am not just running away like in older survival horror games, but I also never feel powerful enough to relax. Every bullet matters, every encounter feels like a decision under pressure, and even when I win a fight, I feel like I barely survived it. I also love how the atmosphere keeps shifting. One moment I am in tight, claustrophobic interiors, and the next I am in wide open areas where danger can come from anywhere. It keeps me alert all the time, like the game is constantly testing my awareness. And then there is the pacing. It never really lets me settle. Just when I think I understand what is happening, it throws something new at me, whether it is a stronger enemy, a new mechanic, or a sudden escalation in intensity.

Noel / 30s / Male

Can be a bit cheesy in terms of story, but RE4 was a new rebirth for the RE franchise, turning tank controls into an immersive 3rd person shooter. very tight controls required mastery, good positioning, controlling enemies around you, being aware of the space around you, conserving all your ammo with proper resource management, and good action sequences every now and then, with a constant oppressive atmosphere. Great horror survival.

R.E.P.O. is a co-op horror game that lets you play as robots tasked with exploring different areas and recovering loot for profit. Its gameplay involves having you use magnetic powers to control a cart, lift objects to place on it, and sell them at extraction points for money. The game also features proximity voice chat to talk to other players and quick movement actions for hiding from enemies. This is an endless stage-based game that lets you continue your tasks as long as you meet the required quota. Each stage becomes more difficult as the game progresses, featuring multiple monsters exploring the different rooms, higher quota requirements, and more extraction points.

In the lineage of Lethal Company-style roguelike collection action where you gather treasure and evade enemies. A work that greatly extended the point of defeating enemies to cash them in; especially in the early game the enemies' attacks are powerful, so it's very fun to think about how to evade or cash in enemies at low cost. In multiplayer the difficulty drops greatly, so it also has a festival-game side, giving different play experiences solo and in multiplayer.

Fun to play with friends, im easily scared and generally does not like horror but since the horror aspect in this game is light, i can play it plus instead of being scared, im mostly laughing because of my friends

The original Silent Hill have survival horror fans a different flavor of the genre. While other popular titles try to catch you off guard with a jump scare, the brand of fear Silent Hill exudes is persistent and unsettling. Everything in this game from the atmosphere, its sound design, and the constant threat of whatever is lurking in the fog, will keep you on edge. Follow Harry Mason as he searches for his daughter in the mysterious town of Silent Hill.

I will curse whoever gave me this as my first game ever in my life. However, I will also thank them for giving me the best horror game I've played even to this day (equal to Alien Isolation).

Rui / 20s / Male

Arguably the best in the series in terms of storytelling. Exploring James' disturbed psyche was truly missed when I was a child, but found a good lesson when I revisited it.

Pulling all-nighters playing co-op on the sofa with a friend was just plain fun. The story and music didn't stick with me that much, but it's a game you can play straight through to the end while laughing the whole time.

The original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis continued Umbrella's desparate attempt to cover up the Raccoon City outbreak by unleashing the Nemesis to hunt down and eliminate the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members. Stepping into the role of one of the most beloved protagonists in the franchise, Jill Valentine, players must survive Raccoon City and its collapse. While it retained the exploration, puzzle-solving, inventory management, and resource conservation that defined the classic RE formula, Resident Evil 3 raised the intensity with mechanics like dodging, ammunition crafting, and branching events that led to multiple endings. Capturing the survival horror that the series is known for, the original release of Resident Evil 3 is still, to this day, one of the greatest installments in the franchise.

Dead Space is a sci-fi survival horror game centered on Isaac Clarke's journey to solve the mystery of an alien artifact known as the Marker. The Marker is capable of reanimating corpses called Necropmorphs, and they are eliminated through dismemberment rather than aiming for the vitals. Conventional weaponry is ineffective against these creatures but engineer Isaac wields tools such as the Plasma Cutter that can clear through the hordes of infection running towards him. His main goal is to survive through this ordeal against corporate greed, religious fanaticism, and cosmic horrors using all the scarce resources he can find in the world. The game features diagetic presentation through their game elements where the UI is a tangible object that the characters in-game can see and interact. This brings the atmosphere and the vibes of the world closer to the players.

Ray / 20s / Male

The dead space series is first game I've played once I've gotten a PC of my own. It ran less than 30 FPS but I trekked and finished the series.
