The Last of Us is a linear third-person survival-horror action game. The game is a series of combat encounters with varying enemy types and numbers on varying map layouts. In these encounters, players can choose to take sneaky or aggressive approaches, or a mix of both, while scavenging and managing scarce resources. But at its heart, The Last of Us is a character-focused, narrative game about love and how far we, as people, are willing to go and how much we are willing to sacrifice for it.

"The Last of Us" is a work with, above all, an extremely high level of story completion. Set in a world where an unknown fungus has spread and civilization has collapsed, it focuses on the relationship of two people traveling to survive. Early in the story, they had the distance of strangers acting together for a purpose. But as they continued their harsh journey, trust gradually formed, and by the end they became bound by a bond like a true parent and child. Precisely because that change is portrayed carefully, the choice at the story's climax carried enormous weight. It's a work that makes you think about which you would choose when weighing a collapsed world against a single child as precious as your own daughter. Not merely a zombie survival game, but a story depicting human love and ego, loss and rebirth, it remains strongly impressed on me even now. Also, the PvP that's a bonus element of the main game is quite polished too, and its rare gameplay of a third-person shooter incorporating crafting elements was appealing. Tense maneuvering, resource management, and team coordination are important, and it has such deep-rooted popularity that there are still fans playing it today.

『The Last of Us』は、とにかくストーリーの完成度が高い作品です。

One of the best games I have ever played in the PS3. The story was so captivating from the start until the end. I didn't really expect how heart shattering the beginning was when Sarah died right in front of Joel. How it really affected him later in his life and how Ellie later filled up that void. Their bond throughout the whole playthrough was really fulfilling. The gameplay was also very immersive, and I really enjoyed the combat. You could feel the tension whenever Joel was backed into a corner against multiple enemies, whether humans or infected. As Ellie, it was also engaging how you could use your surroundings to take down enemies or escape danger.

Arguably the greatest sendoff to the saga of Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 4 is a last hurrah for the legendary video game hero, portraying him as a grizzled soldier aged prematurely by genetic circumstance. Positing a future world where possibility is choked off by an exploitative war economy, Metal Gear Solid 4 pits Snake against his past and present one last time and brings a close to the long story of Big Boss and his progeny. It's also a showcase of excellent stealth gameplay and hyper-detailed mechanics that matches the ultimate soldier against cyborgs, genetically enhanced warriors and massive mecha bent on reshaping the world.

You can enjoy it in stealth missions, and you can also brute-force it in an aim showdown, which is nice for changing how you play. The story is interesting too, but you have to know the series, so opinions will probably be divided. The fusion of realism and near-future feel is an exquisite balance and very good (things like the digitization of war and weapons). Also, the online was a god-tier game. I got hooked enough to grind into the two-digit world rankings. It properly kept MGS's world while maintaining a balance you could grind. A game that became my gateway to getting into the FPS/TPS genre.

The fourth numbered entry in the Metal Gear series created by director Kojima and others who were once at Konami, a work where the series' complex story foreshadowing was paid off and the story more or less concluded. The series' mysteries are revealed, and it was an irresistible experience for series fans. However, perhaps to wrap up an overextended story, there are extremely many cutscene events, and nearly the whole thing is cutscenes, to the point that you can play a bit of game as a bonus, so that one point I thought was a downside.

A masterpiece that anyone who's played Metal Gear for a long time absolutely should play. Like the past works, I think it's a work that nicely concludes the politics and world situation that became more realistic years later, the running gags continuing from past works, and the karmic ties with characters. The ending makes you cry.

The quick-time events were really satisfying, especially when Kratos kills his enemies with different animations. The boss fights were fun and cinematic, especially the QTEs at certain points of the fights. The story was straightforward and served as a good way to end his journey.

The graphics of characters like Mine and Kanda are also better in the original. The remake's facial modeling gives a slightly softer impression and lacks impact - The setting of the mysterious man who becomes the key to this game's story felt strongly like an afterthought and was disappointing, but otherwise it was an Okinawa-flavored story revolving around vested interests in base expansion and resort development

Dark Souls was the game entry that truly brought the term "souls-like" to the forefront. It is one of the most immersive games ever combining the experience of a dying world with a harsh hardcore gaming experience. Every step forward, every area discovered, every boss defeated is a celebration. The world design is immaculate with amazing set pieces combined with intertwining shortcuts that truly connect the world. You are also able to truly express your own playstyle with what equipment you don and what strategy you implement.
