Both Edgerunners Seasons Join the Fight
Blizzard revealed the next Overwatch crossover to be with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners at BlizzCon 2026. Characters from Edgerunners and its sequel season, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, are both set to appear when the event launches sometime in 2027. The post signs off with a nod to Overwatch's Payload objective, a vehicle available in the game’s Escort and Hybrid modes.
Full details have yet to be shared, though two characters are already locked in: David, from the first season of Edgerunners, and Talia, a new character in the upcoming second season. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is scheduled to hit Netflix on October 20, 2026, putting the anticipated series’s sequel release months before the collab event even drops.
The announcement also drew a response from Paweł Sasko, the Associate Game Director for Cyberpunk 2, who called it his "most anticipated collab" to date. This is Overwatch's subsequent collaboration event at BlizzCon 2026, following the return of the Overwatch & LE SSERAFIM crossover, which began September 12th, releasing a new set of skins for Mizuki, Freja, D.Mon, Anran, Sierra, and Moira.
Fans Excited, But Wary of Pricing
The reaction to the news has the community buzzing with excitement, with many fans online calling it a dream collaboration and crossover. Much of the discussion was speculation over which characters might receive Edgerunners-themed skins, with fan-favorite pairings suggested like Sombra as Lucy and Hazard as David.
However, a recurring concern among fans is that the new skins could launch as pricier ultra-rarity cosmetics, a rarity tier introduced in past collaborations that typically costs significantly more than standard skins, $35 versus $19 USD. Others also disappointedly pointed out that since the crossover is tied to the Edgerunners anime instead of the game itself, characters from the game likely won't be part of this collaboration.
Alongside the collab announcement, Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty were revealed to be coming to Battle.net sometime later this year. Overwatch continues its series of collaborations and is a co-op shooter available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2. After playing the storyline of the Wuthering Waves collab with Edgerunners I highly doubt they can top that. It felt like the genuine and natural continuation of the first Edgerunners season with a conciliatory ending for Lucy. And playing that little fury Rebecca is as much fun as watching her in the series. :D
