Game Freak’s new mobile title, Ame Nochi Hare Onna, shares strong UI ties with Pokémon games. Here’s how its design mirrors classic Game Freak turn-based style while carving out its own identity.
Ame Nochi Hare Onna’s Battle UI Draws Comparison with Pokémon
Same Turn-Based Format and Positioning

Ame Nochi Hare Onna (Rainy Day, Sunny Girl), Game Freak’s upcoming mobile title, features a battle setup strongly reminiscent of Pokémon. As revealed during the game’s September 14, 2026 livestream, the weather-driven RPG mirrors the classic positioning and visual framing of Pokémon’s turn-based encounters.
It is no surprise that both titles share similar UI design cues, given Game Freak's work on both properties. Although active gameplay footage was not shown, released screenshots highlight a familiar battle layout: the enemy is positioned in the upper right, while the player's party sits closer to the foreground on the left.
However, Ame Nochi Hare Onna’s battle menu appears more streamlined than Pokémon’s classic Fight-Bag-Pokémon-Run layout, focusing primarily on action skills. It also features weather indicators at the bottom of the screen, showing which skills are boosted by the day's real-world conditions.
Typical Mobile Gacha Main Menu

While Ame Nochi Hare Onna shares visual ties with Pokémon’s battle UI, Game Freak’s new weather-focused title sets itself apart with a standard mobile gacha main menu. Much like Uma Musume Pretty Derby and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Spirit, the main menu centers on a featured character that players can swap out and customize to their preference.
On the right side of the screen, the side menu features top-to-bottom buttons for News/Announcements, Missions, and Gifts. In the center of the UI, a main prompt invites players with "Let's go on patrol!". Meanwhile, the bottom navigation bar includes buttons for Weather, Party/Deck Edit, Home, Patrol, and Gacha/Summons.

Game Freak has yet to clarify how these options function or impact the overall gameplay experience. In the meantime, you can check out gameplay mechanics and other details shared during the livestream in our latest article.
