Splatoon 3 is a third-person shooter where players play as Inklings or Octolings and use a variety of ink-based weapons to battle opponents while covering stages in their team’s ink. The game features the series’ signature Turf War mode alongside other competitive multiplayer modes, as well as a story campaign that follows Agent 3’s search for Captain Cuttlefish. Players can also customize their character, choose from a wide variety of weapons, and take part in seasonal Splatfest events.

It's no exaggeration to say this is the only thing I play on the Switch. It solidly incorporates the point that recent games are missing: getting a big thrill in a short amount of time. This also ties into the trendy "dopamine"-related buzzwords, but as expected, rather than a game you can't play without buckling down for long stretches, it's structured to be easy for people of all types to enjoy.

Splatoon 3's solo portion was the most fun of any game in the series so far (including the added DLC). I wasn't that interested in competitive play, so 1 and 2 didn't hook me, but 3 had really substantial solo content and I was able to enjoy it for a long time.

Splatoon is a different kind of competitive-shooter, as it focuses on territory control. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where evolved squid-human hybrids called Inklings battle for dominance in the city of Inkopolish. You are recruited by a veteran named Captain Cuttlefish to fight off the Octarians, an army of rival octupi who stole the city's power source. During Turf War, the game's main multiplayer mode, the goal is to coat as much of the ground as possible with your team's color ink before the three-minutes are up. It's one of Nintendo's more unique spin to an existing genre.

Splatoon 2 is a third-person multiplayer shooter that retains its core gameplay of painting the map with colorful ink. Returning modes include the PVP Turf War, the PVE Salmon Run, and a singleplayer mode that introduces a new story with new characters. With the move from Wii U to the Switch, even more players can enjoy the less conventional gameplay and the freshest fits.

While most Call of Duty games are known for the Multiplayer feature, Call of Duty Black Ops presents one of the franchise's best written storylines in its Campaign, along with one of the most memorable plot twists in gaming. Black Ops also features the Kino Der Toten map for its Zombies mode, which is arguably the franchise's most memorable and iconic map.

This was my first Call of Duty game so perhaps I'm biased. But it was always the games set in different time periods that made me more interested in them. Watching the story unravel to its plot twists was extremely satisfying, and I've had a lot of fun in its multiplayer modes with friends.

Halo 3 puts players back in the shoes of Master Chief as the game looks so close the story of the first Halo trilogy. It features a lengthy campaign that can be both played Solo or with up to 3 other players. The multiplayer also received a lot of improvements from the previous titles as it included a lot of tools to truly customize your experience with things like the Forge, which allows you to make your own custom game modes.

Halo 4 is a Sci-Fi First Person Shooter game that features the return of Master Chief, but instead of his usual grandiose and heroics, features a more introspective storyline that dives deeper into the relationship between Master Chief and Cortana. Halo 4 also features improved graphics and art design, making each chapter feel more like a cinematic experience, rather than just a game level. Despite the mixed reception from longtime fans, Halo 4 has one of the most rewarding easter eggs in the Master Chief unmasked cutscene, which can only be viewed by clearing the game in its hardest difficulty.

For groups of players who want intense and strategic FPS, this game keeps you on your toes as you face and wrestle with variants of zombies to get to safety.

A die-and-retry game where an unbelievable number of zombies come at you. Playing on low difficulty is heresy, so I'd want you to play on high difficulty in a state of pandemonium. It's hard enough to make you want to quit, but I'd want you to pull through it with friends.

Halo: Reach is a prequel to the entire series, telling the tragic story of Noble Team as they try their best to defend Reach while accomplishing their own mission. It presents a darker perspective on struggle. To win the battles but ultimately lose the war. You play as Noble Six, the newest addition to Noble Team, as the team helps out with the futile defense of Reach. The game refines and refreshes the multiplayer experience with the addition of armor abilities and remains one of the most enjoyable multiplayer experiences in the series.
