Standard Build Explanation

This is a standard damage build for Sp. Atk. Attackers. It focuses on maximizing Toxtricity's damage output.

  • Wise Glasses provides Jolteon with a large amount of Sp. Atk. thanks to its percentage-based bonus.
  • Slick Spoon gives Jolteon additional HP and Sp. Atk. Its passive allow Jolteon to ignore a portion of its target's Sp. Def, leading to more damage.
  • Drive Lens further increases Jolteon's Sp. Atk. and rewards the Pokemon with more stats when it knocks out opponents or gets an assist.
  • Sp. Atk. Specs or Choice Specs can be a substitute for any of the items.
  • X Speed further improves Jolteon's mobility through increased movement speed and immunity to slows.
  • The build's Boost Emblem loadout should consist of 6 Green Emblems for more damage and 7 Black Emblems additional cooldown reduction. This can be achieved by having at least three (3) Emblems that are both Green and Black.
  • Equip Emblems that improve Sp. Atk. to futher boost Jolteon's damage.
  • Attack, Defense, and Sp. Def. can be freely traded for the other stats.

How to Play Jolteon

Play Around Quick Feet

Jolteon’s strength and mobility stem from its Quick Feet ability. Each time Jolteon lands a boosted attack or move, it applies 1 jolt counter to the target. Approaching a jolted target increases Jolteon’s movement speed, and attacking a target with 5 jolt counters triggers a special lightning strike. In addition, Jolteon is immune to paralysis, further reinforcing its agility and reliability in battle.

Your gameplay should focus on applying jolt counters through Jolteon’s boosted attacks and moves, consistently stacking 5 counters to trigger the special lightning strike. Use Pin Missile to instantly apply 3 counters, and rely on Volt Switch’s multiple activations and boosted attack reset to quickly build stacks and maintain offensive pressure.

Quick Feet: Jolteon Passive Effect and Cooldown

Use Pin Missile to Apply Jolt Counters to Multiple Targets

Pin Missile instantly applies 3 jolt counters to all targets within its area of effect. Use it to quickly stack counters or push existing ones to 5 then attack to trigger the lightning strike. Aim to hit multiple opponents in one cast, then follow up with Volt Switch to chase and finish them off one by one.

Pin Missile: Jolteon Move Effect and Cooldown

Apply or Finish Jolt Counters With Plasma Quintupulse

Plasma Quintupulse makes Jolteon dash 5 times. The first 4 dashes instantly apply 4 jolt counters, while the 5th dash triggers a lightning strike on targets with 4 counters. Use it to either initiate fights and quickly stack counters or push existing ones to 5 for the lightning strike, depending on the situation.

How to Win Against Even Matchups With Jolteon

Capitalizing on Jolteon's mobility and consistently applying jolt counters will help Jolteon win against these Pokemon.

Force Them to Play Defensively

Ranged, Fragile Pokemon with High Damage
Alolan Ninetales ImageCinderace ImageGreninja ImageMega Mewtwo Y ImageTyphlosion Image

These Pokemon prefer to keep their distance from opponents when fighting. They also have high damage potential that can be dangerous for Jolteon. However, they are forced to play defensively if Jolteon manages to get close to them.

Use Volt Switch’s dashes to quickly close in on them, following up with boosted attacks after each dash. This lets Jolteon deal damage while simultaneously evading their moves. Alternatively, you can initiate with Plasma Quintupulse for a quick burst of damage before finishing them off with Volt Switch.

These Pokemon excel in close combat and rely mostly on their attacks or combos to deal damage. They are also durable enough to tank Jolteon's damage.

Use Pin Missile to stun them when they get close, then use Volt Switch and boosted attacks to deal damage and evade their moves. Use Plasma Quintupulse to finish them off if needed.

Strike First

High-Mobility and High-Burst Pokemon
Absol ImageDarkrai ImageDodrio ImageGalarian Rapidash ImageGengar ImageLeafeon ImageMeowscarada ImageMeowth ImageMorpeko ImageTalonflame ImageZeraora ImageZoroark Image

Much like Jolteon, these Pokemon are incredibly agile and deal high burst damage. The best way to win against them is to strike first.

Use Plasma Quintupulse to become untargetable, deal burst damage, and instantly apply 4 jolt counters. This creates a window for Jolteon to chase and finish opponents with Volt Switch.

Stick with Allies

Highly Durable Pokemon
Articuno ImageCrustle ImageGoodra ImageGreedent ImageHo-Oh ImageLapras ImageVaporeon Image

These Pokemon are extremely durable, making it hard for Jolteon to take them out alone. With that, it's best to group up with allies to bring them down with the help of Jolteon.

Stay on top of them with Volt Switch and boosted attacks. Use Pin Missile to keep them in place and create a window for your allies to follow up on their moves.
