Battle Item Tier List: Best Items to Use
Palkia's gameplay mainly revolves around building up Pressure stacks then consuming them by attacking. Build stacks by hitting opponents with your moves, then once you have 3 stacks, follow up with a standard attack to consume all stacks and deal additional damage and recover HP.
Pressure: Palkia Passive Effect and Cooldown
When the gauge is full, Palkia's attacks deals increased damage to wild Pokemon. If it hits opponents, it will consume the gauge, dealing bonus damage and stunning the target. Utilize these effects to either farm wild Pokemon faster or win fights.
Apart from dealing damage, Aura Sphere marks the targets it hits. If you attack a marked target, you deal additional damage and recover HP.
You can deal a ton of damage and heal a large portion of your HP by building 3 Pressure stacks, marking a target with Aura Sphere, then following up with a standard attack. The effects from Pressure and Aura Sphere are the same but acts independently, so you can trigger both with the correct combo.
Aura Sphere: Palkia Move Effect and Cooldown
Dragon Claw's second attack deals more damage the lower the HP of the target, making it great for bursting down targets. You can also use the move to initiate a fight but only use the second attack after dealing as much damage as possible before the timer ends. This maximizes the second attack's damage and increases the chances of an instant knockout.
Dragon Claw: Palkia Move Effect and Cooldown
Once you learn Multi Dimensional Rend, you'll build up stacks that increases Multi Dimensional Rend's number of slashes (up to 4) whenever you damage opponents. If the move unleashes 4 slashes, all of Palkia's other move cooldowns are reset. Given this, if you want to maximize Multi Dimensional Rend's damage and take advantage of the coodown reset, make sure to build up 4 stacks first before using the move.
Addtionally, keep in mind that you'll lose all your current stacks after a duration if you stop dealing damage to opponents, so you need to deal damage consistenly to reset the timer.
Multi Dimensional Rend: Palkia Move Effect and Cooldown
When you activate Multi Dimensional Rend, Palkia becomes Invincible for a while, making the Pokemon invulnerable to any damage. You can utilize this effect to turn fights around or avoid fatal damage. Also, remember that you can move while you're invincible, allowing you to pick out targets.
List of Status Effects: Buffs and Debuffs
| Fatal Claw Combo | |
|---|---|
| Initiate with Dragon Claw to get close to the target then immediately follow up with Aura Sphere. Afterwards, attack the target and deal as much damage as possible before finishing them off with Dragon Claw's second attack. Remember that Dragon Claw's second attack deals more damage the lower the target's HP, so only use it at the very last second of its timer. Additionally, you'll naturally build up Pressure stacks during the combo, increasing the damage you'll deal before using Dragon Claw's second attack. | |
| Multi Dimensional Laceration Combo | |
|---|---|
| Start the combo with Dragon Claw to get close to the target then immediately follow up with Aura Sphere. Attack the target a few more times then use Dragon Claw's second attack. Once you have 4 Multi Dimensional Rend stacks, activate Multi Dimensional Rend to finish off the target. | |

| Pokemon | Explanation |
|---|---|
Slowbro
|
Rating: ★★★★★ • Can disrupt Palkia using Telekinesis, Surf, and Slowbeam. • Has high durability and can negate using Amnesia. |
Alolan Ninetales
|
Rating: ★★★★ • Can constantly freeze Palkia from a distance and deal high damage with Avalanche, Blizzard, and Snow Globe. |
Buzzwole
|
Rating: ★★★★ • Can disrupt Palkia using Smack Down, Superpower or Life Leech. |
Palkia relies on its attacks and combos to knock out its targets. Pokemon with a lot of disabling moves can completely disrupt Palkia's gameplay.
Building Pressure stacks and using its effects will help Palkia get the upper hand against these Pokemon.
| Ranged, Fragile Pokemon with High Damage |
|---|
These Pokemon prefer to keep their distance from opponents when fighting. They also have high damage potential that can be dangerous for Palkia.
Use Dragon Claw to quickly get to melee range then follow up with Aura Sphere and standard attacks to burst them down. Utilize Dragon Claw's second attack to secure the knockout.
Alternatively, once you get close to them, use Multi Dimensional Rend to burst them down.
| Brawlers/Combo-heavy Pokemon |
|---|
Much like Palkia, these Pokemon excel in close combat and rely mostly on their attacks or combos to deal damage. They are also durable enough to tank Palkia's damage.
Build up Pressure stacks, hit them with Aura Sphere, and follow up with a standard attack to trigger both moves' HP recovery and bonus damage effects.
Utilize Dragon Claw's second attack to deal high amounts of damage once they're HP is low.
Alternatively, you can max out on Multi Dimensional Rend stacks then use it to quickly deal a ton of damage.
| High-Mobility and High-Burst Pokemon |
|---|
These Pokemon are incredibly agile and deal high burst damage. However, they become vulnerable when they miss their burst damage attempt.
Dodge their attacks as best as you can, then once they're in a vulnerable position, strike back with Dragon Claw, Aura Sphere, and Multi Dimensional Rend.
| Highly Durable Pokemon |
|---|
These Pokemon are extremely durable, making it hard for the Pokemon to take them out alone. With that, it's best to group up with allies to bring them down with the help of Palkia.
Use Dragon Claw to stay on top of them and make sure to consistently build up Pressure stacks for more damage. Once their HP becomes low, use Dragon Claw's second attack to burst them down.
| Fragile Damage Dealers | |
|---|---|
| Non Threats |
These Pokemon can fall quickly to Palkia's damage and have little no ways to counter it. Once Palkia get into melee range and performs its combo, they'll most likely get knocked out fast.
