Battle Item Tier List: Best Items to Use
Reshiram is relatively weak in the early game and can't really do that much yet. Its power spike begins at level 9 when the Pokemon gets its Unite Move, and from then on, Reshiram's power scale just grows exponentially.
Given this, it's best to focus on reaching level 9 as quickly as possible in the early game to take advantage of Reshiram's scaling.
Reshiram's attacks become boosted attacks each time it uses a move or after two (2) basic attacks, dealing damage to the target. When the flames hit an opponent, they explode, dealing damage to nearby enemies. Additionally, when a boosted attack hits, the Unite Move gauge charges slightly.
Make sure to fully utilize this mechanic to maximize your damage output.
Unlike most Pokemon, Reshiram's ability—Turboblaze—is active, not passive. This essentially gives the Pokemon another usable move on top of its primary moves and Unite Move.
Turboblaze deals damage and destroys a set amount of the target's shield. It's also a sure-hit move, meaning it's a guaranteed hit. Use Turboblaze as part of your combos to maximize your damage output.
Turboblaze: Reshiram Passive Effect and Cooldown
Blue Flare deals damage, burns the target, and reduces both movement speed and attack speed of affected enemies. This makes it especially effective against Pokemon that rely heavily on basic attacks, since the debuff weakens their offensive potential.
Blue Flare: Reshiram Move Effect and Cooldown
Apart from being a mobility move, Dragon Dance also temporarity increases Reshiram's Sp. Atk. stat, improving its overall damage output. To maximize this effect, always use Dragon Dance before other moves or basic attacks so you can deal increased damage right from the start.
Dragon Dance: Reshiram Move Effect and Cooldown
Each time Reshiram uses Flames That Bring Lightning, the counter beneath its health bar increases by 1. At a count of 2, the next use summons Zekrom, who blasts the target with lightning, dealing damage and stunning enemies in the area of effect.
The counter is persistent and does not expire; it only resets after the third activation. This allows you to prepare the third use in advance, enabling you to open a fight with bonus damage and a guaranteed stun.
Make sure to keep an eye on the counter so you can utilize the move's mechanic strategically.
Flames That Bring Lightning: Reshiram Move Effect and Cooldown
| Blaze Barrage Combo | |
|---|---|
| This is a standard combo that utilizes Reshiram's boosted attack mechanic. Start with Dragon Dance to gain bonus Sp. Atk. then immediately follow up with a boosted attack. Afterwards, use Blue Flare to slow the target followed by another boosted attack. Lastly, use Turboblaze and another boosted attack to finish the combo. | |

Afterwards, use Flames That Bring Lightning to summon Zekrom and deal additional damage and stun enemies, then do another boosted attack. Keep using Flames That Bring Lightning and following up with a boosted attack until you have no more charges. | |

| Pokemon | Explanation |

Gengar
|
Rating: ★★★★★ • Can safely get close with Phantom Ambush and burst it down with Dream Eater and Shadow Ball or Sludge Bomb and Hex. |
Leafeon
|
Rating: ★★★★★ • Can quickly get close to Reshiram with its fast movement speed and Leaf Blade and burst it down using Razor Leaf or Solar Blade and Emerald Two-Step |
Mimikyu
|
Rating: ★★★★ • Can quickly get to melee range with Shadow Sneak and burst it down with Shadow Claw or Play Rough. • Can lock down Reshiram using Play With Me... |
Although Reshiram is more mobile compared to a typical Attacker, it's still an easy target for Pokemon with better mobility and high burst damage.
Utilizing the mobility and bonus Sp. Atk. from Dragon Dance, the debuffs from Blue Flare, the sure-hit attack of Turboblaze, and the charges from Flames That Bring Lightning will help Reshiram get the upper hand against these Pokemon.
| Ranged, Fragile Pokemon with High Damage |
|---|
Much like Reshiram, these Pokemon prefer to keep their distance from opponents when fighting. They also have high damage potential that can be dangerous for Reshiram.
Use Dragon Dance to boost Reshiram’s Sp. Atk. and close the distance. Once in range, use Blue Flare, Turboblaze, and Flames That Bring Lightning to burst them down with amplified damage.
| Brawlers/Combo-heavy Pokemon |
|---|
These Pokemon excel in close combat and rely mostly on their attacks or combos to deal damage. They are also durable enough to tank Reshiram's damage.
Use Blue Flare to slow them and reduce their attack speed, weakening their offensive capabilities. Maintain a range advantage with Dragon Dance then kite them using boosted attacks, Turboblaze, and Flames That Bring Lightning.
| Highly Durable Pokemon |
|---|
These Pokemon are extremely durable, making it hard for the Pokemon to take them out alone. With that, it's best to group up with allies to bring them down with the help of Reshiram.
Use Dragon Dance to stay on top of them and gain increased Sp. Atk. then slow them with Blue Flare. Slowly bring them down using Turboblaze, boosted attacks, and Flames That Bring Lightning.
| Fragile Damage Dealers | |
|---|---|
| Non Threats |
These Pokemon can fall quickly to Reshiram's damage and have little no ways to counter it. Once Reshiram get into range and unleashes its moves, they'll most likely get knocked out quickly.
