Held Item Tier List: Best Items to Equip
| Item | Explanation |
|---|---|
Full Heal
|
Full Heal allows Solgaleo to purge negative status effects, especially Stuns and Slows, and become immune for a short time. These effects work great for the Pokemon's aggressive melee gameplay. |
X Attack
|
X Attack further amplifies Solgaleo's innately high damage output. |
Eject Button
|
Eject Button can be a situational item for Solgaleo, giving it a versatile repositioning tool. |
Solgaleo is notably weak in the early game since it only learns its second initial move at level 5, leaving you with only Teleport and attacks to work with until then. However, the Pokemon gets its main ability, all of its primary moves, and Unite move at level 7.
Given this, you should solely focus on reaching level 7 as fast as possible in the early game. You can try to get knockouts or score points early on to level up faster, but you should never overcommit to it if it's too dangerous. The earlier Solgaleo reaches level 7 the earlier you can take advantage of its massive power spike and dominate the game.
To help Solgaleo reach level 7 quickly, head straight to the jungle camps at the start of the match. Clearing the first wave guarantees level 5, while taking the second wave plus a few center camps secures level 7.
Jungle Guide and Best Junglers
Solgaleo’s boosted attacks function differently than usual. Each time it uses a move—including follow‑up attacks from Iron Head and Psyshock—it gains a boosted attack counter. When two counters are accumulated, its next attack becomes boosted, dealing guaranteed critical‑hit damage to opposing Pokemon in the area directly in front of itself.
Incorporate boosted attacks into your combos whenever possible to maximize damage. A simple rule of thumb is to launch a basic attack after every two (2) move activations.
Psyshock boosts Solgaleo’s movement speed, reduces incoming damage, and grants hindrance resistance while charging. During the charge, Solgaleo can move freely. When the move button is released—Psyshock detonates, dealing area damage and stunning nearby opponents.
Take advantage of the move’s buffs while charging, then capitalize on the stun to crash into opponents and set up plays for your team. Remember: you must hold down the button to charge Psyshock.
Psyshock: Solgaleo Move Effect and Cooldown
When Psyshock hits opponents with the explosion, Solgaleo can use the move again to slash in front of itself, dealing damage and applying a slowing effect to opponents in the area of effect and restores Solgaleo's HP. Hitting an opponent with this attack allows Solgaleo to do another attack.
Always use the follow-up attacks to deal more damage as well as recover HP during fights. You can only do the follow-up attack no more than two (2) times.
Apart from dealing damage, Iron Head also shoves opponents backwards. Utilize the shoving effect to control the opponents' movement and set up a clean knockout for your team during fights.
Since Solgaleo needs to be at melee range to successfully hit targets with Iron Head, always use Psyshock or Shining Meteor Crush first to quickly get close to opponents before hitting them with the move. Iron Head is best used as a follow‑up rather than on its own, since it’s far more effective when chained into a combo.
Iron Head: Solgaleo Move Effect and Cooldown
Iron Head can be re‑cast to leap toward opponents, stunning them and striking multiple times while simultaneously restoring Solgaleo’s HP. Always use the follow‑up attack to maximize damage output and sustain during fights.
Shining Meteor Crush is a simple but extremely powerful sure-hit move that has Solgaleo leap towards the target, dealing area damage and revealing opponents that are hiding inside grass. Additionally, the move ignores opponents' Defense stat and shield, allowing Solgaleo's attacks and other moves to deal true damage.
It's best used to initiate fights because of the Defense and shield penetration effect, giving Solgaleo a massive damage advantage.
Shining Meteor Crush: Solgaleo Move Effect and Cooldown
When nearby allies get knocked out, Shining Meteor Crush gauge charges. This mechanic encourages Solgaleo to be more team-oriented and stick with its allies—both to benefit from faster gauge buildup and to provide frontline firepower.
| Solar Meteor Impact Combo | |
|---|---|
| Start the combo with Shining Meteor Crush to gain the Defense and shield penetration buff. Afterwards, follow up immediately with Psyshock, ensuring to fully charge it. Finally, use Iron Head to shove targets backwards. Make sure to also use the follow-up attacks from Iron Head and Psyshock in between or at the end of the combo for more damage. | |
| Psyshock-Iron Head Combo | |
|---|---|
| Start by charging Psyshock and slowly approaching your targets. Once at melee range, release Psyshock to stun the targets then immediately use Psyshock's 1st follow-up attack. Afterwards, use Iron Head to shove the targets then quickly use Psyshock's 2nd follow-up attack. Lastly, use Iron Head's follow-up attack to finish off targets. Incorporate boosted attacks every after two (2) move activations for more damage. | |

| Pokemon | Explanation |
|---|---|
Slowbro
|
Rating: ★★★★★ • Slowbeam can pierce through Psyshock's hindrance resistance and lock down Solgaleo. |
Snorlax
|
Rating: ★★★★★ • Block can shove Solgaleo back even while charging with Psyshock. • Heavy Slam and Power Nap can disrupt Solgaleo's combos and attacks. |
Mamoswine
|
Rating: ★★★ • Can constantly freeze Solgaleo with its moves and boosted attacks. |
Psyshock’s buffs are central to Solgaleo’s gameplay. Pokemon with disabling moves that can bypass its hindrance resistance—or those that can consistently disrupt its combos—can completely shut Solgaleo down.
Taking advantage of the various buffs from Solgaleo's moves will help Solgaleo win against these Pokemon.
| Ranged, Fragile Pokemon with High Damage |
|---|
These Pokemon prefer to keep their distance from opponents when fighting. They also have high damage potential that can be dangerous for Solgaleo.
Use Psyshock to quickly and safely get close to them then burst them down with Iron Head and the follow-up attacks.
Alternatively, just use Shining Meteor Crush to leap towards them, dealing damage and allowing Solgaleo's moves and attacks to ignore their Defense and shield. Afterwards, burst them down with Psyshock, Iron Head, and attacks.
| Brawlers/Combo-heavy Pokemon |
|---|
Much like Solgaleo, these Pokemon excel in close combat and rely mostly on their attacks or combos to deal damage. They are also durable enough to tank Solgaleo's damage.
Psyshock and Iron Head gives Solgaleo a total of 3 additional follow-up attacks that deal damage and recover the Pokemon's HP. Having these extra instances of move activation allow Solgaleo to quickly deal more damage overall compared to these Pokemon, while also sustaining HP.
Alternatively, just use Shining Meteor Crush for the Defense and shield penetration effect, allowing Solgaleo to deal full damage against them.
| High-Mobility and High-Burst Pokemon |
|---|
These Pokemon are incredibly agile and deal high burst damage. However, they become vulnerable when they miss their burst damage attempt.
Use Psyshock's damage reduction effect to tank their damage, then retaliate with the move's stun and Iron Head.
Alternatively, you can strike first using Shining Meteor Crush then follow up with Psyshock, Iron Head, and attacks to burst them down.
| Highly Durable Pokemon |
|---|
These Pokemon are extremely durable, making it hard for the Pokemon to take them out alone. With that, it's best to group up with allies to bring them down with the help of Solgaleo.
Use Shining Meteor Crush's Defense and shield penetration effect to deal true damage against them and bring them down.
| Fragile Damage Dealers | |
|---|---|
| Non Threats |
These Pokemon can fall quickly to Solgaleo's damage and have little no ways to counter it. Once Solgaleo get into melee range and performs its combo, they'll most likely get knocked out fast.
