February 10
Blizzard removes the "2" in their title and rebrands once again to just "Overwatch." Alongside that, it also added an ambitious roadmap and launched with five new heroes.
2023
August 10
Overwatch was officially rebranded as "Overwatch 2," giving players a fresh taste of Blizzard's premier hero-shooter experience with improved visuals and new game modes.
2022
October 4
Overwatch 2’s early access period started on October 4, 2022, featuring new maps, heroes like Sojourn and Junker Queen, and a Battle Pass system. The PvE content, initially a major selling point, was announced to be delayed.
2019
November 1
Overwatch 2 was officially unveiled at BlizzCon 2019 on November 1, 2019, showcasing Blizzard's bold new vision for the franchise. The reveal promised story-driven PvE missions, fresh heroes and maps, and a game-changing shift to a 5v5 PvP format.
