Releasing on November 12, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2
Metaphor: ReFantazio is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12, 2026. SEGA and ATLUS announced the Nintendo Switch 2 version on June 10, 2026, alongside a new trailer and key visual.
The Nintendo Switch 2 release will be available in both Standard and Atlus 35th Digital Anniversary Edition versions. The Switch 2 version will also include an Early Purchase Bonus, featuring an Archetype EXP Chest Set and an Adventurer's Journey Pack.

Is Metaphor: ReFantazio on Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on Xbox Game Pass.
Metaphor: ReFantazio was added to Xbox Game Pass on May 29, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud. It was made available through Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard.
Xbox currently lists Metaphor: ReFantazio as included with Game Pass. The game can also be purchased separately through the Xbox Store.
Is Metaphor: ReFantazio on PS Plus?

SEGA and ATLUS announced that Metaphor: ReFantazio is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12, 2026. The announcement included a new trailer, a new key visual, and details on the Standard and Atlus 35th Digital Anniversary Editions.
July 15, 2025 | Surpassed 2 Million Copies Sold
SEGA announced that Metaphor: ReFantazio had surpassed 2 million copies sold worldwide and released a commemorative illustration by character designer Shigenori Soejima.
October 11, 2024 | Original Release
Metaphor: ReFantazio was released worldwide on Windows, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam. The game was also announced to have sold over 1 million copies just after it launched.
April 22, 2024 | New Gameplay Showcase
ATLUS presented a 25-minute special hosted by Director Katsura Hashino, where he unveiled new gameplay footage of Metaphor: ReFantazio. During the event, Hashino also announced that the game is scheduled for release on October 11, 2024.
June 12 2023 | Officially Revealed
ATLUS officially unveiled Metaphor: ReFantazio on June 12, 2023, during Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase presentation. The game was announced for release on Windows and Xbox Series X/S, and later confirmed to also be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
December 2016 | Project Re Announced
Metaphor: ReFantazio was first announced under the codename Project Re: Fantasy in December 2016 along with some artwork for the game where it depicted a red-headed elf with silver shining armor who we now know is Hulkenburg, one of your party members and the royal guard tasked to protect the priest.
