Chapter List and Main Quest Guide
Beast of Reincarnation begins with the introduction of the world people reside in, showcasing Earth two thousand years into the future, dated at the year 4026. Much of the organic matter living in the world is contaminated with Blight, as flora and fauna turn into corrupted beings called Malefacts.
On Earth, humans now coincide with robotic entities known as Golems, with most organic matter such as seedlings being treated as valuable commodities.

As the title suggests, the primary antagonist and overarching god-like entity is known as the Beast of Reincarnation. This being is known to have caused the collapse of human civilization, forcing them to retreat into colonies, and re-emerging throughout history cyclically every 100 years to wipe out humanity for good with its Blight.

To combat the Beast of Reincarnation, special humans who have harnessed the power of the Blight, known as Sealers, are called upon to defeat the powerful boss-like rulers of each region labeled as the "Nushi". These people are met with both wonder and scrutiny, being the only ones to have the power to fend off the Malefacts through Blight.
The protagonist, Emma, is one such person living near the Ogouchi Settlement. Met with scorn, labeled as blight-stained and The Blighted One, she chooses to live a quiet life before the events of the game.

In 4026, a report was delivered to the Capital bearing news that a sealer would appear in the eastern region bearing hope against the Beast of Reincarnation, one who could wield multiple Blight strains, which normally cannot coincide with one another.
Hearing this, the Administrator sends a message to Ogouchi offering a task to this sealer, one we know to be Emma, to fend off the Beast of Reincarnation.

As Emma accepts the task, a bonded Nue Malefact from a fellow sealer known as Shidou appears to attack the settlement in the hopes of taking her power for his own.
Before fully succumbing to blood loss, the wolf-like Malefact, Koo, saved by Emma, returns to bond with her, providing a Blight strain and fully healing her. With their combined efforts, they fend off the Nue Malefact and escape in the Cleanse Walker (Bauera) with Brad and Kagura.

In the story, Shidou appears multiple times to clash with Emma to retrieve her power of The Vessel. He, alongside his Nue Malefact companion, are secondary antagonists that you must defeat multiple times.
Koo is a wolf infected with the Blight, granting him special powers similar to Emma rather than turning into a mindless Malefact.
In their resonance during the fight against the Nue Malefact, a special bond forms between them, granting special Bloom Arts and a telepathic connection with one another.

Kagura is a resident of the Ogouchi colony saved by Emma during the Nue Malefact's attack on the settlement. She provides food for Emma and Koo in the Cleanse Walker.

Throughout each region, a powerful entity known as The Nushi resides, corrupting the lands with Blight. Emma's journey entails fighting off all the Nushi, collecting their Blight strains to use their powers as her own, before engaging with the Beast of Reincarnation.
Beast of Reincarnation offers a big plot twist reveal in its story and ending, as the source of the Blight is actually caused by the technological advancement caused by humanity.
Are There Multiple Endings?

At the peak of human civilization around two thousand years before the story, the advancement of technology led to massive wars, calamities, despair, and humanity declined. In a last-ditch effort, a project was created to develop a digital world known as Shambhala.
Hoping to create a perfect, ideal world, the Beast of Reincarnation was created to transfer humans from Earth to Shambhala through the Brahman technology, and maintain its order with its power.
The Blight's real identity is called Brahman, nanite technology developed by humanity to transfer their consciousness into Shambhala.
However, this technology that was released in the world corrupted and spread the blight into all organic matter. Those contaminated by the Blight faced erosion, turning into Golems and Malefacts, while the rest of humanity who couldn't eventually succumb and die.

The Crescent Moon seen in the sky is the satellite that transfers the human consciousness from Earth to Shambhala. As an easter egg, looking up at the sky causes Emma to faint, rewarding players with a trophy.

The Beast of Reincarnation's true nature is that of a swarm of nanobots capable of connecting directly to Shambhala and Earth. It is capable of fragmenting its own power into multiple entities.
The remnants of the human civilization on Earth created a new project to work with Shambhala. New humans were created and developed to contain the Blight strains and have this power for their own, referred to as The Blightborn and/or Sealers.
Among these experiments, Emma, the protagonist, became the first successful Vessel to have the ability to contain multiple Blight strains.

As a vessel, Emma lacked the capacity to fully grasp what emotions were. Having been a developed experiment, she was raised and treated as a weapon rather than a true human being.
Only through her journey with Koo, Kagura, Violet, and Brad, alongside her multiple encounters with other sealers who experienced the same fate as her, did she develop a full-bodied soul.
The cyclical pattern of appearance of the Beast of Reincarnation was meant to continuously transfer the human consciousness into Shambhala.
In the events of the game, however, the developments in Shambhala led to the Beast of Reincarnation devising a new plan to return to Earth, fully taking over the world and clearing all non-Blightborn to give birth to a new dawn of humanity.

Violet, Emma's ghost companion, is revealed to be a resident of Shambhala, elected as an oracle to aid the Beast of Reincarnation in conducting peace in this haven. Due to Violet, the Beast of Reincarnation developed a soul and found the emotion of love.
One day, Shambhala was partly destroyed, causing Violet to be sent to Earth prematurely and reincarnated in the body of Emma as a secondary soul. On the other hand, the Beast of Reincarnation split its body and essence into fragments, becoming Koo and Mikoto, to find Violet on Earth.
The encounter of Emma and Koo eventually caused the Beast of Reincarnation to finally locate Violet, starting the initial story of the game.

The Administrator, head of the ruling body of the remaining humans known as the Organization, conspired with the Beast of Reincarnation to have Emma at the core, acting as the sacrificial lamb to create the second age of humans on Earth.

The conclusive chapter of the story begins with Emma and the Beast of Reincarnation clashing. Despite Emma's triumph, her body eventually succumbs to her own powers due to the grievous wounds received in battle, turning into a large tree as she transfers her soul to Koo.
Due to their clash, however, Mikoto realizes his mistakes and honors Violet's and Emma's wish. This causes him to use the remainder of his power to end the Blight, causing Shambhala to shut down.

In the epilogue, Koo eventually locates Violet's intended vessel and transfers Emma's soul into it. The game then ends with Emma, Kagura, and Koo seeing Emma's old vessel as the large tree, indicating that their journey has borne fruit with the Blight having cleared out.
