Bancho the Chef Overview
Bancho the Chef is a cooking simulator and adventure RPG by MINTROCKET, currently in development for PlayStation 5. This standalone prequel to Dave the Diver, set 19 years earlier in 2004, follows fan favorite Bancho as he travels across Japan, Korea, China, and other parts of Asia to learn from master chefs.
With a head still full of hair, Bancho cooks and serves local cuisine from every location, raising each restaurant’s reputation and learning unique techniques from supervising chefs. The game departs from Dave the Diver’s pixel art and adopts a fully 3D style for more immersive gameplay.
The DualSense controller’s haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and gyro sensors are fully integrated into Bancho’s motions to make cracking an egg or slicing a fish tactile and realistic. Story-enriching side missions from NPCs and mini-games, such as fishing and petting cats, are also available.

Bancho the Chef was officially unveiled during PlayStation’s 2026 gaming showcase, State of Play. The game’s first trailer announced its ongoing development for PlayStation 5 and availability for wishlisting through the PlayStation Store.
