The Witcher 3 Hits a New Peak 11 Years Later With Its Remaster Release
Steam Charts Report Nearly 120k Concurrent Players
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has set a new all-time high for concurrent Steam players, with the official Witcher X account confirming more people are now playing the game since its 2015 launch. The announcement's shared charts show a peak of 119,852 concurrent players, surpassing the previous record of roughly 100k in January 2020, when the Netflix series drove renewed interest in the game.
CD PROJEKT RED credited the milestone to both new players discovering the game for the first time and longtime fans, thanking them for returning to it more than a decade later.
New Armor Set and a Cyberpunk 2077 Freebie
Alongside the milestone, the team announced the Scarlet Crest Armor Set, a new free reward for players who connect their CD PROJEKT RED account and upgrade to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s remastered version. The set includes matching armor, trousers, gauntlets, and boots. Players can claim these through the game's My Rewards page alongside other previously available items like exclusive hairstyles and cosmetic items.
The update additionally gets a crossover with Cyberpunk 2077. Players who connect their CD PROJEKT RED account and own both games, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and Cyberpunk 2077, can unlock a Wolf Bandana and Rabble-Rouser hairstyle for Geralt.
To obtain the items in-game, Yennefer will give Geralt a letter, instructing players and giving them directions on where to find a chest at the Royal Palace of Vizima. Both freebies, the Scarlet Crest Armor Set and the collab items from Cyberpunk 2077, can be found here.
Fans Hyped, But Some Players Are Encountering Issues

Reactions to the news have been filled with buzz and excitement so far, with many longtime fans expressing gratitude. They praised the studio for offering the update and rewards for free even 11 years after the game’s release. Some players also took the liberty to ask about a physical release for the newly launched Remastered version and requested more Cyberpunk 2077 content down the line.
However, multiple players have reported technical issues post-update, including reduced frame rates and stuttering on PS5, along with an outdated build still showing on the PlayStation Plus cloud version. Others said they linked their accounts correctly but never received the Scarlet Crest Armor Set, with some noting their existing save files carried over older reward sets instead.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with the remaster as a free update. For more insights and thoughts on the base version, check out the page below!
