Fortnite x FNAF Collab Confirmed: Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, Animatronic Bosses, and Skins Arrive October 1
Epic Confirms What Fans Suspected All Along
Fortnite's official account confirmed the Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) crossover on September 27 with a short teaser that tagged Scott Cawthon, the creator of FNAF, and read "IT'S ME! See you October 1." The line comes from the FNAF series itself, where "It's Me" is one of its best-known creepy phrases. The crossover launches Thursday, October 1, alongside the start of Fortnitemares 2026, Fortnite's annual Halloween event, which runs through October 31 as part of Chapter 7 Season 4.
Developer and Publisher Epic Games had been building toward the reveal for days, as Fortnite hinted at the event's October 1 date on September 23. Cawthon's teaser had already convinced much of the community that FNAF was headed to the battle royale, and players had spotted a mysterious construction site on the Fortnite map in August. As it turns out, that building was the setup for the collab.
Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Is Taking Over the Map

The trailer confirms that the construction site will become Freddy Fazbear's Pizza on October 1. The restaurant is the setting of the original FNAF game, where players work a night shift as a security guard while animatronic mascots roam the building. Its Fortnite version will include security cameras, animatronics, and jump scares.
Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy appear as animatronic bosses that players can fight. Epic's own description of the collab invites players to face the animatronic animal bosses and survive the night. The trailer also shows a player turning into Chica after sneaking up on her with a pickaxe, hinting that players can take on the animatronics' forms after beating them and hunt other players.
As of writing, Epic hasn't revealed any finer details about the collab. The trailer suggests a survive-the-night style of gameplay, and some outlets are reporting a dedicated game mode, while others note that Epic hasn't explicitly confirmed one. The company also hasn't announced an exact launch time, only that the Fortnitemares update goes live in the morning on October 1.
Four Animatronic Skins Are Coming, Each With a Withered Style

The four animatronics are also coming as skins: Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. Each comes with a "Withered" alternate style, referring to the damaged, broken-down versions of the characters from FNAF 2. The trailer also shows other themed items, including a Mr. Cupcake back bling paired with Foxy, along with Jam Tracks and Kicks.
The collab arrives as Fortnitemares 2026 rolls out a lineup of other crossovers, including League of Legends, Black Clover, and 99 Nights in the Forest. Five Nights at Freddy's has grown far beyond its original indie games into a franchise with a hit movie and a huge fan base, and Cawthon has a reputation for being careful with how he uses his characters, which made his direct involvement in the reveal notable. Fans won't have long to wait to see how it plays out, with the crossover set to go live in just a few days.
