Love and Deepspace adds a safety notice to its Moonlit Reserve drink promotion after fans pointed out that two featured garnishes are toxic when consumed in real life.
Love and Deepspace Adds Safety Notice After Promo Drinks Listed Toxic Flowers
Players Warn Others Not to Recreate the Drinks
On September 29, the Love and Deepspace official X (Twitter) account shared animated drink ideas through the game's Moonlit Reserve promotion, asking players to comment and suggest an extra ingredient for a chance to win some in-game rewards. The featured blends listed Datura as an ingredient, while another included Flame Lily. Concerns were raised, as both are real plants that have been highlighted by the community to be toxic to humans if ingested, and no indication of their toxic properties has been included in the promotional material or in the post itself.
A community note was then added to the post, warning that Datura can cause effects ranging from delirium and hallucinations to respiratory depression and death, while Flame Lily carries similar risks along with skin irritation from contact. Several users, including a self-identified former bartender, publicly urged followers not to attempt recreating the drinks at home, and the post went on to draw thousands of views as the warnings spread. Many non-players chimed into the conversation, sparking further debate.
Love and Deepspace didn't officially get to this until roughly a day and a half later, only posting a brief Safety Notice clarifying that all drinks shown are "fictional, intended for in-game use only, and not meant to be recreated or consumed." The delayed response drew mixed reactions, with some players glad to see any acknowledgment, while others were upset at how long it took them to respond, and some used this moment to bring up other ongoing frustrations with the game, such as the cancellation of the supposed 6th love interest Valko.
At this time, Love and Deepspace has not addressed why there was no disclaimer to begin with. But as to why the ingredients were likely listed, the lore shows that Datura is Sylus’s signature in-game flower, while Rafayel’s is the Flame Lily. For now, the initial post remains live with its community notes still attached.
