Hytale Chapter 1 Launches October 12 With a New Dungeon, Boss Fight, and Goblin Faction, Plus a $15,000 Challenge From Its Co-Founder
Simon Is Putting $15,000 Behind a No-Armor, No-Potion Hardcore Kill
Hytale co-founder, Collins-Laflamme, posted a challenge to the community alongside the Chapter 1 announcement: he'll personally donate $15,000 to the first streamer who defeats the Gobliterator on Hard mode, in Hardcore mode, naked with no armor, no potions, and no glitches, using only the iron-tier weapons available in Exploration Mode. The fight has to be streamed live so the run can be verified afterward, and Collins-Laflamme has since clarified that it needs to be a fully legitimate solo attempt from the start, with no use of Creative mode to shortcut into the fight.
Because Hardcore mode carries permadeath, a failed attempt likely means restarting from scratch and making the full trek back to the dungeon rather than simply respawning and trying again, something Collins-Laflamme himself acknowledged, framing the challenge as a real decision for streamers between practicing safely first or just going for broke on the first real attempt. He's confirmed attempts are unlimited as long as each one is a legitimate run, though the full rules of the challenge don't appear to be completely locked down yet.
Unsurprisingly, the bounty has already gotten the community talking, with several streamers publicly committing to attempt the challenge live the moment Chapter 1 goes live on October 12.
Chapter 1 Releases On October 12, 2026
Hytale confirmed that Chapter 1, the sandbox game's first major post-launch content update, releases on October 12, 2026 for PC. No exact launch time has been announced yet. Hytale is a Minecraft-inspired sandbox game from Hypixel Studios that entered Early Access on January 13, 2026, quickly surpassing one million players. Rather than dropping one giant "Adventure Mode" all at once, Hypixel has structured Hytale's story and world content as a series of episodic chapters, and this is the first of them.
Chapter 1 was first detailed back in July during a lengthy "First Look" post from game director Simon Collins-Laflamme, and pieces of it have already been trickling into the game through an Update 7 pre-release that's been live since September 3. The full chapter adds Hytale's first handcrafted dungeon, complete with a multi-phase boss encounter, alongside a new goblin faction, a world event called Goblin Breach, a new Rune Abilities system for combat, and a set of goblin-themed gadgets including rocket boots and a hookshot. It's also bringing Hardcore mode to the game for the first time, along with 14 new party minigames and continued work on the engine's underlying cubic-chunk world technology.
Meet the Gobliterator, Chapter 1's New Boss

The dungeon's climax is a fight against a towering goblin mech Collins-Laflamme has named the Gobliterator, a multi-stage boss battle built on a new system called the Encounter Manager. According to Hypixel's July First Look, that system treats boss phases, wave spawns, and arena changes as data-driven content rather than hard-coded engine logic, meaning the same tools the developers used to build the Gobliterator fight will also be available to modders looking to design their own boss encounters down the line.
