Expansion Releases in 2027
No exact date has been confirmed yet at the time of this writing. The DLC expansion has only been confirmed for release sometime in 2027 so far on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam (PC).
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is an upcoming expansion to the base game Monster Hunter Wilds and was officially revealed at the Summer Games Fest 2026 on June 5, 2026 (PST).
MH Wilds Ascendance First Trailer
Two new monsters have been confirmed with the release of the first trailer: the elder dragon Gundoraja and the bird wyvern Araketa.

Previous Monster Hunter titles released their respective expansions within 9 months after their announcement. While this can be a coincidence, it can be speculated that Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will release between February and March 2027.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance DLC Gameplay and Features
The upcoming 2027 Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion brings the following new features to the base game:

New Locale: The Skybound Eyrie
The Skybound Eyrie is a new locale tied to Wyveria, introducing floating ruins and emphasizes vertical exploration. This comes with the appearance of Alma and other base game characters, also implying a direct continuation of the main story of the game.
Boost Bracer and New Weapon Moves

The Boost Bracer is a new gadget that allows hunters to perform unique attacks, combos, and mobility options.
- The Boost Bracer puts you into Boost mode, which enables the additional weapon features.
- Boost mode is dependent on an energy resource and recharges over time and on weapon hits.
- It can be activated manually or through Boost Driver attacks.
The developers have also confirmed that weapons will receive new moves independent of the Boost Bracer, adding more depth to combat.
New and Returning Monsters

Two new monsters have been confirmed: Gundoraja and Araketa. Dubbed the “Black Sky's Wrath,” Gundoraja is an elder dragon that calls down storms and lightning. Meanwhile, Araketa, known as the “Jetstream Wyvern,” is a bird wyvern that propels itself through the air using powerful bursts of wind.

Three returning elder dragons have also been confirmed: Kushala Daora, Lao-Shan Lung, and Teostra. The Flying Wyvern monster Khezu has also been confirmed to return. The encounter with Lao-Shan Lung is a siege quest where hunters must defend a stronghold with the help of strategically-placed mounted weapons.
Master Rank (G-Rank) Difficulty
Master Rank (G-Rank) quests, weapons, and gear are also confirmed for the expansion. This new difficulty tier will confront hunters with challenging quests and reward them with powerful equipment, similar to Master Rank quests in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
The new Ascendance story and Master Rank quests can be accessed after the 7★ High Rank assignment quest Awaking From a Dream.
Master Rank (G-Rank) Expansion
New Story: Lao-Shan Lung Returns
Taking place several years after Wilds, Ascendance centers on the sudden return of Lao-Shan Lung, whose migration appears to be triggered by mysterious forces disrupting the ecosystem.

Guardian Monsters Encroach Beyond the Ruins of Wyveria
Triggered by ecological anomalies, guardian monsters are no longer confined to the Ruins of Wyveria. By encroaching into neighboring habitats, they may invade ongoing hunts, much like Deviljho and Bazelgeuse in earlier titles.

The above quality-of-life features were revealed during Capcom Spotlight TGS 2026. These include useful UI updates, such as the ability to display exact numbers for Monster Hide Toughness.
Unlimited Character Edits
It has been announced that players will be able to officially re-edit the appearance of their character and palico at any time free of charge on the release of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. This means that players will no longer need edit vouchers for these features.
