Timberborn Gameplay

In Timberborn, players manage a growing beaver colony by balancing resource production, population needs, and settlement expansion across limited terrain. Efficient city design is essential, with vertical building allowing players to stack structures and create dense, multi-layered districts. As the colony develops, production evolves from simple gathering into interconnected systems powered by mechanical energy and automation, rewarding careful planning and optimized layouts.
Environmental pressures shape the core gameplay loop, extending beyond simple drought survival. Alongside dry seasons that cut off water supply, toxic badwater events can contaminate rivers and soil, threatening crops, infrastructure, and citizens if left unmanaged. Players must adapt by controlling water flow, isolating hazards, and maintaining clean, sustainable production chains.
Timberborn Story Plot

In Timberborn, humanity has long since disappeared after leaving the planet in a state of environmental collapse. Prolonged drought and rising temperatures transformed much of the world into a dry, unstable landscape, with only limited water sources sustaining what remains of the ecosystem. In their absence, beavers evolved into intelligent societies, repurposing the ruins of the old world as they establish new settlements.
The game’s two factions reflect different approaches to survival in this environment. The Folktails favor renewable systems and sustainable expansion, while the Iron Teeth prioritize industrial efficiency and resource output.
