Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Gameplay
Roguelike Combat and Exploration
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault improves on many aspects of the original title’s gameplay. Compared to the first Moonlighter, the difficulty levels among different biomes are no longer neatly separated. As players venture deeper and deeper into dungeons, they will encounter significantly more powerful enemies with their own combat specializations, requiring players to come up with strategies on the fly to survive each level.
In addition, the new 3D isometric layout will introduce platforming to the game, adding a new element to what is undoubtedly an already familiar dungeon-crawling loop for seasoned Moonlighter and roguelite fans.
Weapon Upgrade System
With the increased difficulty level, however, come other improvements, such as more in-depth weapon mechanics and revisions to the relic system. Relics and boons can synergize with one another in several ways to provide players with powerful boosts and abilities. Sometimes, however, these relics may come at a cost, as a few of them can also destroy other relics depending on how players manage their inventory. This new system demands more intentional decisions from players as they make their way further down each dungeon.
Shopkeeping System
Outside of Moonlighter 2’s dungeon crawling is the game’s shopkeeping mechanic. Like the original Moonlighter, players, as Will, must sell their hard-earned loot and grow their shop to earn money to purchase better gear and invest the money into helping out other villagers. Now, players can also design their shop however they want.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault follows the original protagonist of the first Moonlighter game. However, the sequel no longer takes place in the Rynoka and The Moonlighter. In this story, Will finds himself stranded in a different village called Tresna, where he must set up shop once again to make a living and help restore Tresna.
Though Moonlighter 2 will be set in a completely different location with a brand new set of faces and stories to go with it, it will also see the return of a few helpful NPCs, such as Andrei the Blacksmith and Eris the Witch.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Setting
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault now takes place in a new location called Tresna, a village where Will and the rest of his companions are stranded and forced to rebuild their lives. Tresna is where Will's shop will be located, and serves as a central hub for items, weapon upgrades, and exploration. There are also a number of dungeons outside of Tresna where the bulk of Moonlighter 2's combat will take place.
