Combat and Progression
Gothic Remake refreshes the classic's tactical and deliberate take on fighting with a modernized combat system, adapting more fluidity and dynamism to its core mechanics, such as movement and realistic physics.
Character growth, which covers basic fighting styles, forging new gear, and arcane spells, is dependent on the vast array of outcomes stemming from player interaction with the quests, characters, and the mine's factions. It is up to the player whether they want to brute-force their way through the foes regardless of gaps in power, or go for a slower, more calculated approach.

With the kingdom in need of magical ore to forge weapons powerful enough to fight back against the horde of orcs that invaded, King Rhobar II orders that all prisoners be moved to the Khorinis mines. To lock the prisoners in, he asked his best magicians to create a barrier so that they remained inside the mines.
However, when a mutiny breaks out and the magic that locks them in goes haywire, the prisoners suddenly gain control of the mines. Tensions arise between the factions inside the mines as the King is forced to negotiate with the new owners of the mines.
What they don’t know is the arrival of a new prisoner who will change absolutely everything.
Gothic Remake Setting
Gothic Remake takes place in the dark-fantasy Valley of the Mines in the Kingdom of Myrtana, transcending its role as a mere backdrop and into a setting that drives consequences forward as part of the open-ended exploration undertaken by players. The Nameless Hero must survive against danger plaguing the prison colony in all forms—beasts, magic, and other adversaries—in a quest to unveil the enigma that shrouds the barrier.
